First year burning, had a Harman 52I installed last week and also picked up a half ton of Vermonts. Now just waiting on the cool weather to fire it up. I have plenty of local pellet choices, going to burn premium pellets the first year and experiment with 'inferior' pellets after I gain experience. Delivery prices are all pretty much the same. Here's what is available:

Spruce Pointe $279/ton
Cubex $285/ton
LG $269/ton
Vermont $290
North Country $295
Okanagen $305
Okanagen Black Hills $272
Cleanfire Pacific $274
Allegheny $279
Energex $289
Barefoot $265
Hamers $275

I won't comment on your choices because the only ones I see in my area are the Cubex and Okies and I won't pay the money for them. . It would help if you put your location in your sig.

Thats the best pellet list i recall seeing. You are lucky. I would be happy to have half as many to choose from.

My P35i liked the Barefoots with the exception of some long long pellets and a lot of crunching. That's the only thing that turned me off. I have become a big fan of the softies and would probably do the Cleanfires or the Spruce Points if it was me, then again I'd probably buy a ton of Vermonts too as I hate ash.....

I'd be doing a split of 1/2 each of Barefoots and Spruce Pointe

...I'll stick with my MWP for $19
How did you find that price?! I bought 4 ton at Home Depot for $209/ton and luckily they hadn't corrected the price in the system as it had just gone back up to $219/ton!

Man, what a cheap skate I am.....I'll stick with my MWP for $192...but I understand your reasoning.
Anywhere between $1100-$1200 for four tons is a drop in the bucket compared to what I spent on oil last year. I'm a cheapskate also and wish I could find MWP that cheap around me.

I ordered the same Harman 52i two weeks ago (along with 4 tons of the Barefoots (feets?) which will all be coming during the first week in January... How do you like your stove in the real world now that it is really getting cold out? Good luck with the Barefoot brand as well?

We're in Mid Michigan and the pellet variety is much smaller close by. I'm burning Michigan Wood Products at 3.78 (189.00/ton) a bag at Menards. No discount for a ton. First of the month they had Somersets for that price. They do the job well and burn pretty clean.

As far as the stove goes, it's been great. Cleaning is fairly simple and it throws quite a bit of heat. My house is 3400 square feet and it's 11 degrees out and I've got the stove set to stove temp, thermostat on 4.5, with the blower on high and its 78 in the family room and 65 upstairs. In regards to the pellets, I wouldn't get the spruce point again. Vermont's burned cleaner.

Wow. We're getting shafted up here. 5.50 + tax for cubex per bag. 5.00 per bag plus tax if you buy a ton or more.

Wow nice to know! The more I read, the more confident I'm feeling that I made the right desisions on stove/pellets. (which is good because I 'charged' everything and haven't begun paying for it yet!!)
