Hey all,
One of the local HD's finally got something in stock rather than the AWF Pine Softwood pellets. I won't pay the $5.58/Bg price for those.

Anyhow I was pleased to find out they had 13 tons of Pres-To-Logs left. I went tonight and bought 25 bags($5.19 each). I was going to buy a ton but didn't have access to a pickup and didn't want to risk them being gone tomorrow night.

I still have about 12 bags of Pres-To from last year and noticed that this years batch are much lighter in color. I took a pic for you all to see. Hopefully they will still burn as well as last years.

Anyone else see any differences in brands this year? I have a mix of 3 tons now for the season( FSU, Stove Chow, AWF hardwood, Timber Heat, and Pres-To-Logs).

Also noticed difference, but appear to be burning well. Bought 4 tons from Lowes.

Which HD has Pres-To-Logs?
Thanks

color isn't everything, but IMO, the lighter pellets always burn hotter and cleaner IMO.

What plant?

The HD near me sold Blazers for several years at $199/ton. A great buy on DF pellets that were from a regional mill. This year, for some odd reason, they are selling Pres-to-Log pellets at a higher price, (probably due to transportation cost as they are from out of region). I tried a bag a couple of years ago. An "OK" pellet, but nothing to rave about.

everything else sucks compared to Douglas fir's. lol you Pacific folks are spoiled.

I picked up 5 ton of Presto's from my Lowes..burned maybe 6 bags so far
burning as hot as they did last year but I've noticed a sharp drop in the ash with this batch

Any buildup in the pot? A Home Dopey bass finally received a large shipment of pellets, they are the Press-to-logs

Update on this years logs. I am very pleased. So much that I am kicking myself inthe rear end for no driving back up there the same day and buying the other half of the ton. I'm noticing a nice hot burn and even less ash than last year's batch. I you come across these I recommend them.

I think it would means less bark and a lot less by the color I see, so, a lot cleaner and better performance

I burned both. Light and dark and I thought the dark pellets burned much hotter and cleaner. They have a harder, waxier surface almost like hardboard. Thats funny. I have a harman and it liked the darkies.

Same here. Dark was cleaner, hotter. Not unhappy with this year's batch, but getting much more ash, in a Quad MVAE and an old Whitfield Quest. May be different plants we're all getting these from, as well.

I got 2 tons last year just at the start of the shortage when HD was scrounging for inventory. The ones we happened to get were from the W. VA plant and very dark. They were among the best pellets I've ever burned - lower ash than VTs (a local brand here but getting too pricey now) and easily as hot. Long burning in the pot. I don't think they're dark because of bark - from the smell of them I'd say it was from the oak and walnut (very distinctive odor) content. Saved one of those tons for the coldest weather this year - looking forward to using them.

I'm finding pres to logs softies in my area (HD) shipped in from the Idaho plant, I normally see hardwood from VA, the softies burn great so far a lot cleaner than the hardwood. Don't know why ligentics is bringing in pellets from Idaho to the east coast but the proof is in my basement. Check your labels.

Good to know that about hard wood. Now that I know, I might try darker one next time. On the other hand, I don't think this applies to soft wood.
Thanks for the informations.
