I just had a chance to look at some of their list of new approved units and it appears to have been released without any review or fact checking. Data is missing and in some cases so erroneous as to be laughable.

How about these..........

Some models listed do not even show the average output for an 8 hour burn. (I thought this was part of the new standard!?!? )
Garn is listed as requiring storage . DOH!! Seriously?
One of Central Boilers models shows a lower peak output than the average over an 8 hour burn!!!.... How does that work?
Some models listed as being tested with cordwood, never were.
Some of the emission levels listed just plain look bogus. I mean really off base.

All I'm saying people is don't use the EPA's hang tags and guidelines as any sort of an indicator for what performance you can expect. From the short scan I did, it would seem that whoever is supposedly reviewing and compiling the manufacturers data, is sound asleep at the wheel.

........They are probably off figuring out how to plug holes in earthen dams somewhere.....

It is really frustrating to see fictitious and erroneous data like this released. Just flat out unacceptable.

Big govt. doing what it does best!

I think the EPA has good intentions.....sometimes, I think they do more bad than good. Take OWB for instance. They are now outlawed because they are smoke dragons and inefficient. I believe part of that is because of the user. The ones that cut a live oak on Saturday and burn on sunday. My dad and cousin (by marriage) are 2 of the ones I know.

Just my 2 cents.

There is a lot of truth in this, but those same people don't put mineral spirits and oil waste in the gas tank of their car, and they would if the car manufacturer through advertising, sales hype, etc. lead them to believe they could. The OWB manufacturers have lead users to believe they can (and should) burn anything. Hence the problem. Manufacturers need to assume responsibility and be held accountable rather than hide and claim it is not their fault.

Jebatty you are correct. I was going to write that same statement but got distracted. "It's got a blower on it so burn whatever you want, even garbage" they say. Maybe not garbage but I know some that do.

Most dangerous statement ever " I'M FROM THE GOVERNMENT AND I'M HERE TO HELP YOU"

After spending spending the last 28 years being a Firefighter it gets a little frustrating visiting one of my favorite boards to read about how worthless government employees are.

You have been sold a great bunch of lies by the wonderful Tea Party.

I hope none of you ever wonder why our country is in the state it is with the widespread lack of respect for Police. Every comment here shows you are part of the problem, negativity breeds more negativity! Think about it!

Some might be directed more to politicians than employees - I suspect.

My wife is also a gov't employee - no way in heck I want her job. Just hope she makes it to retirement with her sanity in check.

I think you'll find most government rants and negativity are directed towards burocrats, worthless politicians and the federal government in general.

I've never directed or even heard of negative criticism towards firefighters in my life. Cops get a lot of bad press for shooting unarmed people. Last time I checked fireman are only known for saving lives not ending them!

Keep up the good work.

Thanks,

Funny though here in Wisconsin it was the Politicians that started the war on public workers.

The 2010 attack on government workers in Wisconsin really turned people against each other. Five years later I still hear it at Family reunions how worthless Government employees are. Makes it hard to control yourself sometimes.

I would like to add something here. While you may not like the epa you guys have to admit that the last set of regulations have been fantastic for wood stove performance. I work on stoves and chimneys every day and believe me the new stoves are way better. Why would the same not be true for furnaces?

The EPA actually does do good things overall. Trouble is they get to nit picking small things that are pretty meaningless in the overall pollution total. Those things sure aren't a small thing for the end users of chain saws weed wackers and other small engines. The EPAs meddling with these tiny things goes beyond annoying. If they would back off on stupid requirements instead of acting like left wing loonies they might get some respect .

Will heads roll because they poisoned a river a couple of weeks ago?

Demonizing CO2 is idiotic. Using that to kill the coal industry is even more idiotic.

Everyone who had a direct part in that should be canned w/out pensions, put their pensions towards costs, and be made to participate in the cleanup. This includes the mining company in its current form(whoever has the mineral rights).

I think we're about done here, folks.
