As for capacity it should have no problem, a friend one mine has a similar unit and it heats his 1800sq. Though his is not in the basement but in the living room.

Pellet heat is very different than wood heat... more like the tortoise than a hare when it comes to heat! Heat movement depends on layout of the house and how open stairwell is to upstairs. You should plan on installing an OAK (outside air kit) as that will improve performance and reduce drafts caused by air infiltration. Many find better heated air movement by using a fan to push cold air towards the pellet stove.

Still a little slow as it is still summer but I'm sure Harman owners will give specific advice... The 43 is a multi-fuel isn't it?

Basement is hit or miss.

That being said, I would suggest up sizing the stove just in case. Less chance of a mess / headache.

I couldn't get the heat to rise with a P61a just trying to heat my 950 sf upstairs and 650 sf downstairs. Vents cut in floors, open stairway and fans - nothing helped. Ended up putting another stove on main floor. Others have had great success using a smaller stove to heat more area than I have. It is hit or miss. However, since the heat from your woodstove made it upstairs, you probably have a better chance of a good outcome. my house has a lot of walls, and the stairway on the very end of the house, so that didn't help my cause any.

No, only the P45 is rated as true multi but they all seem to eat up to 50% corn
