HD near me dropped chows/Nations choice [ugh] from 269 to 199 few weeks ago.
they have about 8 shrink wrapped tons out in front with a sign [display only].
pellets inside... good thing.. couple of them are leaking pellets from the bottom and big
mess out there...... they gotta start making room for mowers/BB Grills etc mid February..
glad they blinked and had to lower prices.. Not good for someone who paid 269.00 ton
for chows back in the fall.. [not great to pay that much ever for HD stuff.]

My stove is off, it was 52 out yesterday and mid 40's today. HD here still $5.18 a bag or $259 ton. But at least they are Fireside Ultra or ThemaGlo, 1/4 step better than chow..

that's good.... this year it was only the 2 brands that I mentioned above...
last year occasionally they would get a tractor trailer load of Presto logs, AWFWP, and Blazers but nothing of that sort this season.

sure that's not an older add? HONEST INJUN... I went to wallyworld which is same area and purposley drove by the chows stacks outside at 199.00 around noon or earlier..
I'm off again tomorrow so I'll snap a picture...

Tony...I believe you can go on the website and look, I just took that screenshot. The wesite won't even let you add those $3.98 Chow bags to a cart online. I was going to go to the Lansdale or Souderton store this weekend and grab a ton. To my dismay today, the price went up from yesterday!!! WTH is with HD!!!

Yes, I've been checking all the HD's around me daily waiting for the prices to drop so I can go oink a ton up. So today I start going through all the stores and the prices are back up. I believe the Bensalem and Plymouth Meeting stores were $199 too and those are back to $259.

OK...the Bustleton Ave store will let you add 50 bags to the cart for $199 but that is too far for me...but their ton price is $259

@Tonyray Well as of this morning all the HD's around me are $199!!! Now I don't have to road trip!

Edit....just checked all the stores down your way and they are $199 again...they must have been updating the site last night.

I hope all the suppliers and manufacturers have an eye opening reality check from sales this season. Obviously being price jacking greedsters is not working out very well. Especially the jacked up prices on inferior pellets. I think the pellet burners have spoken with letting these jack wagons sit on their over price junk tons........... We shall see. There are many BB stores and such sitting on many, many tons here.

I stopped into an agri dealer that had a sign out selling Somersets. They wanted $260 per ton. I laughed at the dude inside and told him another agri supply place was selling them for $219 a ton and they were not having a "pellet sale." I think too many of them were thinking the demand was going to be crazy again this winter and they would capitalize on that at the expense of others. How's that ride on the Karma Bus?

They can have fun looking at them and all the space they take up all summer or get real on their pricing. I'll bust and burn wood again before I get one cracked off in my azz paying too damn much for any pellets. I don't care what brand they are. And the stuff has just taken a serious devaluation here with me. I'll be stocking up for next year on the cheap soon enough when they need to clear out and make some room. Thanks!

I've also noticed many ads on the local CL here with tons listed at obvious businesses selling tons now for $200 to $225 per ton trying to unload supplies. Something I never saw last year. All I can say is get your pricing in line or have fun tow motoring those skids around this summer to make some space boys. Also think about the loss when Junior gets pissed after moving that dead weight around non-stop. Nobody buys puffy damp pellets that lost a fight with the tow motor forks nor the skids that sat outside soaking up the rain.

ok...
just went inside HD levittown approx 2PM. 1/28 Thursday.
NEVER SAW SO MANY PELLETS SKIDS THERE EVER!!!!
In the Indoor/outdoor Seasonal section I Stopped counting at 50- 60 Wrapped skids of Chows & Nations Choice... they are actually running out of room for them.. All over the friggin place!!!
asked at the counter just to be sure and they said 199.00 ton..
Of course I had to throw my digs in.." maybe if they didn't jump to 269.00 this past season you might have sold them all by now. cause they were NOT the greatest pellets around at 269.00".
At 199.00 I think they are priced just right along with Nations choice..[Ole Roy's]..
sooooo,
they are there if ya want them..;)

The Bethlehem store is listed at $199/ton and says they have a bunch in stock.

Supply/demand is a funny thing...only place in the Lehigh Valley last year at this time that had pellets was a place in Northampton...and they were $7+ a bag! Now they're practically giving bags away.

I saw GS's at the Bethlehem store (they may have other but that was all I saw) and GS and Chow's at the Easton store.

Went to Lowe's in Bethlehem and the matched the $199. Wanted to get a ton of AWF but fork driver couldn't maneuver two tons of PTL to get to the AWF's because of the snow. Need to stop back next week to grab it after snow melts a bit.

The HD version of pellets here (Waterbury and Stratford CT) are still stuck at $259 also. I think they are going to with them for a while.

Just wanted to add that not all pellet dealers are taking advantage. I never bought pellets from McManus Fuels in Barrington, NH but they carry the higher end pellets and their selling prices have not varied appreciably from year to year.

They were marking them down yesterday in Orange to 199. I don't burn pellets but even at that price I just don't see it being worth it. Heating oil is $1.29 in the New Haven area.

Saw pellets for $199 at HD in Bristol, CT. Not sure what brands. I am pretty sure the had FSU pallets outside though.

I went into the HD on Lehigh Street and they wanted 259 this Saturday.....go to 25th street and it was 199. you would think they would all be the same standard.....weird. Saw Chows out side and Fireside Ultra's on a guys cart......don't even know which ones to get at 199???? Anyone contact Ace to see if they dropped yet?
