Dang, that dog is showing $900 at my local store, on the website.

That is a steal of a deal.

What I didn't like about that stove was the mounting of the door hinges. It looks like you can adjust the pressure on the door gasket by sliding the hinges in and out and that would be very easy to accomplish. But, the way these hinges were tightened down did not give me the impression the adjustment would endure since the hinge material already looked stressed and warped.

I always wondered why this stove is absent from Enganders/Summers Heat Web site? It shows up at Lowe's and Am/fm energy?

That's the same stove I have, I'm calling it my 'beginner stove'. I gave 750 for it back in November from our local Lowes store, total installed cost $1407.25.

I have been burning 24hrs a day with it, have not had my heater turned on since December 3rd, and loving my electric bills now since I am 100% electric. Actually have to say I am quite happy with it, but then again, this is my first time burning wood.

And of course it helped immensely by finding this site and figuring out all I was doing wrong, I just figured I could throw a log in and I was good to go, damn was I ever wrong ;lol

@fishki- all that matters is you are happy and safe.

I just got the Summers Heat 55-SHP22L for 540.00 It is listed online at 599, and they took another 10 percent for military bringing it to the 539. Awesome. Been looking for a pellet stove for awhile and at this price point I can take a chance on it.

Sweet...!

It's very common for manufacturers to make either store brands or store-exclusive models under an existing brand.

Some have a brand for direct sale and one for resale, some have a different brand for every large retailer who carries their stuff. Many have items that they only sell to certain retailers; often that's because of a contract with the retailer for 'exclusive' products. Just as often, the 'exclusive' product is the same as one of their other models, maybe with some cosmetic differences and a new part number. Big retailers like to have their own brands. For example, Kenmore is a store brand; there has never been a Kenmore factory. They are all rebadged machines from various manufacturers. When Sears finishes sinking, someone will pay millions for the rights to use that brand because the shopping public knows that Kenmore manufactures great machines.

Some things, like major appliances, tend to have a dozen brands per manufacturer; some things, like wood stoves, tend to have a more sensible ratio.

Any big manufacturer probably puts out some models that they only sell to certain retailers, though, because the big retailers are all looking for products that their competition doesn't have.
