Sounds like this belongs in the pellet stove thread.
Yes, nothing has changed so far, that's the kind of stuff I will need to know when this is all torn down and begin to plan on installing a pellet stove. I should add that I do not, and have never burned anything in this stove.

Sounds like this belongs in the pellet stove thread.

So, if the future intent is to install a pellet stove, post there? With this thread my intention was to find out what I had in my house currently, not really about the future plans here. Really the goal was: does this need to be demolished, and I think I have learned that it needed to be.

I only have a slight clue as to what I am doing, which is removing an old wood burning stove and seeing what I am left with. I had planned on posting in the pellet stove thread to see what should be the next step after all this is gone.

You're did the right thing. That was a real mess. People do the darndest installs sometimes. It's a good idea to start a new thread in the pellet forum once you have this mess cleared and are ready to start fresh. Pellet piping and clearances are different.

Glad to hear, I was a bit worried that this was the right thing to do until I saw the duct tape and wire here!

Crazy stuff. Hard to imagine anyone even thought to do that. WOW!

In case anyone is interested I go to pull some more down this weekend while the dump was open to take the brick and mortar debris.

Randall Flagg, huh?
Randall I loved your work in Stephen King's The Stand. Boy you really had those True Believers on the run, at least for a while.
And, your eyes! Man those are wild!

Thanks! Also all demolition was done in a redneck tuxedo, jean jacket, jean shirt, and jeans.

You really shouldn't lay your sledge and chisels on the stove top like that... you may risk scratching the stove paint.

Funny, I had thought of trying to sell this for cheap originally until I started to see the condition, yikes!

Some more progress yesterday and found out this is a Sears/Wards special #26 Franklin stove manufactured by U.S. Stove.
