Ive been switching to manual momentarily then back to auto but the stove still shuts down and tries to fire back up instead of idling. What gives.

Off the top of my head I'd say a bum igniter switch, not shutting off when you shut it off. Without testing it's just a guess though.

Edit: Obviously not enough coffee this morning, it didn't even register that you were switching off "momentarily" then back to auto. Why would you expect a different result than what you are getting ? I mean you put it back in auto, so it's working as if in auto because it is in auto..

it has to stay in manual. if you are switching back to auto, you are allowing it to shutdown. keep the switch in manual and it will go into maint mode flame.

Yep, just leave it in manual. But then you also have to have the temp dial above 5 (or 75*) for the room blower to stay at your set level. Well, that is how my P-series work anyway.

For those that don't know....if you momentarily switch to manual and back to auto the fire will stay lit permanently and just idle until it calls for heat. This saves the ignitor from being worn out. This is how i have ran my stove for the last 5 years when i have been using it. It has just recently start shuting itself down completely and using the auto ignitor to restart. So something is amiss.

3650,
am I missing something here/?
why would you NOT switch it to room/manual after initial fire up and leave it there?
the outcome is the same..
fire will stay permanent and Idle till call for heat thus avoiding as we say, 'Ignitor Phobia'...

So the Accentra works differently than the P-series, always nice to learn something new.

That would surprise me greatly. Here is our "bible":

As far as I know they all work the same. lets make sure we are not confusing stove temp/room temp, etc... Also, the stove can idle on auto, mine does it quite a bit. its just going into shutdown mode that is different, as it will only idle for a bit, then shutdown on auto. while on manual, it will never initiate shutdown.

just checked the Accentra manual.... same as the others...

Igniter Switch to "MANUAL" Room Temperature Mode The fire will have to be lit with starting gel and a match, or started automatically, see "Automatic Operation". Turn to "Manual" position when the fire is established. The difference between "AUTO" Room Temperature Mode and "Manual" Room Temperature Mode is that the fire will not go out as the room temperature goes above the control board setting. The unit can only go to low burn and will remain there until it runs out of fuel or until more heat is needed and the feed rate increases. Feed rate adjustments and dial settings are the same as "AUTO" settings

My stove ran mostly in low burn all day yesterday in Room Temp Auto, it never went into shut down because the room temp probe was never fully satisfied is all. Had the probe ( and related brain) been satisfied it would have gone into shut down. I can't explain why the OP experienced what he has for X amount of years though. But seems to me that his stove is working correctly as of late.

I find it awesome that it is mid/ latter Feb and my stove is in low burn LOL ! Supposed to be 55 out tomorrow, we have open water I might go fishing.
