Different pellets may need different settings. If the flame is lazy generally you would need to increase air.
I just shut the stove down and going to let it cool then open up the air flow , clean it out again and try it...I have never needed to adjust the air before...Guess the other pellets I had were basically all the same...I would rather learn how to do it when the stove is cool then try it now...

Okay so, I opened up the air flow all the way, I checked to make sure nothing was clogged in the intake pipe and PFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTTT.....the stove is not working....at this point I am stumped and back to kerosene

What exactly is it now not doing? It wont light? Are pellets feeding? It lights and runs then goes out? Still making error code(s)?

It will turn on, light, feed pellets, run for about 5 minutes then it goes off and says check hopper for fuel. All the time, it's feeding the pellets, the blower runs etc....the fire is however very lazy and orange. I have change the connectors to the back up fire sensor, changed the blower and exhaust settings as per Serenity's tech support, I had it professionally cleaned last week, I checked the air intake pipe for any clogs and I opened the air vent all the way...I am at a loss

Something is still preventing the stove from getting enough air through it, has anyone actually pulled the exhaust blower and bench tested it? Normally on these stoves, if the air vent is opened all the way the draft is strong enough to put sparks out the exhaust.

No, the tech did remove the exhaust blower and cleaned it and the stove ran beautifully for about 3 days but then right back to orangey and lazy. I can call the tech again to come look at it.

I would as it seems something is still blocked. Either that or due to disturbing the blower for cleaning it now is deciding to act up.

Calling someone to come to the house again, is going to get expensive. If the stove ran great after the last time the exhaust blower was removed, then I would like to know what the condition was of the exhaust blower and housing when they pulled it? Was it clogged, or just normal build up?

With the stove off, can you open the door and get a picture of the burn chamber? Then a close up of the burn pot,and maybe pull it out and get a picture of the cavity where the pot sits?

If it ran fine after pulling the exhaust, the issue has to be within that system. I doubt anything is in the inlet. But it is important that the holes in the burn pot be open as that is how the air comes up thru the pellets. So the cavity that the burn pot sits in has to be reasonably clean and the holes open. Even with my clean burning pellets, I have to scrape the bottom of the burn pot daily, and at every few cleanings, I have to take a drill bit to clean the carbon build up out of the holes. If the bottom holes plug, then the side holes will only feed air to the fuel load from the sides, which, IMO, will make a lazy flame and cause sensor errors etc.

To me, given the recent descriptions here, it sounds like a simply issue and should be an easy fix. Perhaps with just an adjustment in daily procedure or the like. Given that the exhaust blower was pulled and then the stove worked well, I'm betting the burn pot was pulled too and the holes opened.

You have no other source of heat aside from kerosene heaters?

Nope, I had a boiler that went which is why I decided to go with the pellet stove. I am planning on putting in a ductless system but not until next spring. Unfortunately, I am a single lady who can just keep a roof over everyone's head.

No, it's not the burn pot. I clean that daily and all the holes are open. I use the vacuum and a screw driver to make sure they are open. I vacuum under the burn pot and I also remove the ash pan every couple of days and vacuum under it. The stove in the front is completely clean. I will take pictures of everything this weekend.

Something could have blown out but if I had to make a bet, I'd bet that something still isn't clean. A passage got missed or what ever, blower chamber, igniter chamber ( if these stoves have access there) horizontal passage leading out to the vent, but something.

Do you really have to pull the stove for checking or even cleaning ? Next season will be season 5 for our pellet stove and it's never been off the pad or moved as yet. I brush straight through the stove and horizontal pipe.to the clean out T.

Yes in order to just check this time I had to take it off...The exhaust way was clear..Shined a light through it and took the blower off just to make sure... Vacuumed it again...Lit it and it stayed on for awhile until I just shut it off because its 70 degrees today...I honestly think it's the pellets that my stove just doesn't like...It's going down cold tonight so I will see if it will stay on...

Are they different pellets than you have had all along ?It's not inconceivable for it to be pellets.

Yep...Brand I never used before and will never use again...Unfortunately I have 2 tons of it
It's unusual for pellets to be so bad they conk a stove out but it has happened. We had a guy here whose stove wouldn't keep going and we asked if he could pick up a couple of bags of something else . He did and had instant success. Usually you can make adjustments, clean more often, mix the bad batch with some good etc etc and get past them though.

What brand are these pellets ?

There isn't much in the serenity to get blocked up, the exhaust exits the firebox right below the burnpot chamber goes in about 6'' then a short left turn right into the exhaust blower housing and out the vent. Sounds like the pellets may be bridging. I would definitely pick up a bag or two of different pellets and see if that fixes the problem.

You can also mix pellets. So if you have 2 ton of a bad batch, mix some good brand with them. But this would be an amazing first for the Serentiy as it can burn a real diverse pellet type. If you found a pellet that it wont burn, wow, those be some real doozies of a pellet.

I have some different bags in my stash that I am going to try. I filled the stove already with the bad batch which I am trying to get through so I don't have to dig them out. The stove has been on since 530 and it's burning but not perfect. Stove chow are the pellets that are not working. I was thinking about mixing them if I get the stove to stay on.

I finally had to shut the stove off because this is the way the pellets are burning. The ash pan is filled with unburned pellets.

Stove chows generally aren't so bad, they are more ashy than some others and you might need to scrape the pot more frequently. And or clean the stove more frequently. But they should burn fine and they should heat fine unless they're damaged..

So you have pellets being blown out of the burnpot, is that correct.
