I think winter's over

National Weather Service says 17° tonight, 10° tomorrow night. Average low on March 4 is 26°; record is 5° in 2009.

That may not be record-setting, but I am going to go ahead and call it 'pretty wintery'. :)

(Living room forecast: 75° tonight, 75° tomorrow night.)

Too bad for the plants, though. They all heard it was spring already. Those buds are in for a shock.

I got to the cabin today in north east PA. It was 32 when we arrived. And in a hour, a snow squall came through. 1/2 inch of snow on the ground and it dropped to 26. The snow guns started up on the ski mountain. Now at 6PM, 22. The stove is rippin. Just imagine the picture to the left with a rolling ball of fire. I'm sippin a glass of red, watching the deer, turkeys and birds on the feeders . So nice to have winter come back for the weekend.

How's the stove in your place?

We're seeing faint signs of green showing up as the earliest leaves start to open. Buds are fat now and the hummingbirds are showing up in greater numbers, but we are still heating a bit.

You have to drive to your cabin to see deer and ski slopes? Sucker. [emoji12]

Yep, it was starting to look like spring last week here in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, but boyz oh boyz the cold is back with a low tonight of -18 degrees Celsius (0.4 F) and a high tomorrow of 13 degrees Celsius (8.6 F)..... Yep, winter ain't gone nowhere yet..... :-(

But I'm still going out tomorrow and splitting/stacking me wood for next winter...... :)

Paying the price this weekend for a very mild winter. I saved so much on firewood & heating oil, and I'm looking at 4 years ahead because of it (on firewood, not oil ..... 6 years since the burner ran, what a lovely break this winter has been for me  !!! )

I've used 300 gallons of oil since October 31st, and I'm happy about it :)

Both stoves running as I type, going down to the 20's (F) over the weekend (less with windchill & Icy Hollow temps  ), then back up to the 40's & 50's next week.

Daffodillys, crocuses, hen & chicks, day lily's, etc all poking their heads up last week when I turned the leaves on the flower beds last weekend. I covered them back up with the same mulch :)

I'll take this winter, and be glad for it

Don't envy folks out west, how ever.

Nothin' feels as cold as 30 deg right after 65 deg.

Thermal underwear helps a lot in that department. I wore my insulated Wolverines to work today, the "boys" were swooning over them :p

Thermals get my blood pumping :).
The wind coming off the sound is frigid, cut right through everything I had on. Hopefully we warm just a bit in the next couple days.

Try being out at Hallockville on days like today ;)

Going to be almost 70 here Saturday and Sunday and 70 or more Monday with high winds. Burning bans are in effect. Trees are budding out and the grass is starting to green up. We need some sort of precip. bad.

Where is "here"? Can you add your general locale to your avatar?

19 f all day tomorrow on the ma/nh border

Spring my a**

I am pretty sure winter will not be over until March 20th this year.

But, to be serious: the weather here has been above average the past week. But it is weather. That can change next week. So I am not planning the spring shutdown and cleaning of the stoves and chimneys just yet.

Glad we are back to more seasonal weather. Trying to burn some uglies, bark, and shorties so I don't have to re-stack the junky stuff for the summer.

But I'm still going out tomorrow and splitting/stacking me wood for next winter...... :)

I'll be edging and moving 40 yards of mulch, as much as is possible with this frozen ground.

Will you be moving the 40 yards of mulch or just guiding the tractor that is moving 40 yards of mulch?:p;lol

Mid- southern vt. Was pushing mid 50 to 60 degrees this past week. Today a high of 10. A low tonight of 20 below. Next week should be great sugaring temps
