At the bottom of the glass of my enviro mini there seems to be an air leak where air is being sucked into the stove's burn chamber. Is this normal?

Some stoves leave gaps in the gasket (door or glass) to allow air to "wash" the glass to keep it free from fly ash. Know the USSC leaves gaps on the door gasket ... not sure on the Enviros and couldn't find it in the manual.

New stove or new to you? Door gasket or actual glass gasket?

Welcome to the forum!

Old stove -- bought/installed in 2005.

It's the glass gasket that would be in question. If I hold a lit match by the bottom of the glass, the match flame gets sucked down/in to the glass. I replaced the glass gasket last year.

The stove does not stay lit and I discovered this while looking for leaks that might the the culprit (and found a leak around the combustion blower). But also found this around the glass...

Thanks!

Need to find out how significant a problem this leak is compared to around the blower. Possible there is bowing in the door frame where the glass is seated? Was the right size glass gasket used?

Give us a run-down of the problems you are having ... ie combustion blower starts, pellets drop, ignite, then quit or something different? It may be leaks but it may be something else altogether. Depends on where the snag is in the sequence...

The first half goes through the various boards used in the Enviros; page 32 on is troubleshooting/replacement of component.

Keep us posted!

Air leak at blower is significant - can easily feel air escaping in one area of the circular gasket. Replacement gasket arrives Friday.

Stove lights well, and burns well for a few hours - and then goes out. Also, requires the air damper to be much further open than usual (compared to the past 10+ years). There is a smoke smell in the room / house when its burning.

As for the door - not sure how I would check for bowing - it would be pretty slight i think (thoughts for checking that?). As I say, if I hold a lit match near the bottom (bottom right) of the glass, the match flame is sucked in and down where the glass meets the door (doesn't happen at other points around the edge of the glass). Yes, correct gasket was used to replace the glass gasket last year - OEM part.

The glass leak *could* be normal - I've never hunted around for leaks before so don't know if this is by design or has always been true. Easy enough to put another one in I suppose, but no reason to if its not necessary.

Hello
If you have the original Mini and not the Mini-A then air will be sucked in thru the ash pan door and really degrades the performance.
So if this is the case you need to install the Enviro ash pan door latch!!

I know about this and thus far it has not been a problem - continue to monitor it

Important point if you are having vacuum issues as it is another weak point ... probably more significant than the glass area. Combine all three together ... who knows?
