I may be looking for a product that doesn't exist, but I figured if it does some of the fine folks here would know. I have a Jotul #3 with the black enamel finish. The finish is in overall good condition but after 20 years it is a bit dull in some spots. I am trying to find a product that would clean or even polish a bit of life into the finish. I am not looking to paint or stain the surface. I also want to make sure I don't damage the original finish. If anyone has any suggestions or experience with such a product I would be appreciative to hear from you. The Jotul stove is a fine looking unit and works well for us.

Is this a glossy or matte black enamel? If glossy, I would use soapy water first then completely dry the stove. Maybe try some baking soda on tougher spots. Then if necessary I would use a porcelain polish or liquid glass cleaner. You might try Rutland's stove glass cleaner in this application.

I would say it is a satin or matte black. I have cleaned it with soap and other mild cleaners over the years. Just didn't know if there was some hidden jewel of a restorer out there. I think I will give the porcelain polish a try in one corner to see if it makes a difference. Thanks, Jim
