Good morning,

I have decided that after 15 years, I am replacing my St. Coix Afton Bay Pellet stove. It has been a good stove. I was wanting to get the same exact stove, but I think this model is discontinued. I found a retailer online and the price seems fair based on what I paid before:

Not sure if it is a good idea to ship something this large all the way from Utah, and shipping would be about $500. Do you think this is a smart idea?

I've also been looking at used stove and found these two on craigslist (both Harmans):

https://poconos.craigslist.org/for/d/harman-p61-pellet-stove/6319008505.html

I've often heard that Harman is the best. Do you agree? Do you see anything that stands out with either of these stoves that would make me walk away?

I emailed the sellers and asked the usual questions....how old, how many BTU's, any parts replaced, etc.

What types of things should I ask about a used stove.

Thanks so much.

I don't know anything about the Alton Bay but I'm don't think the cost of delivery makes sense. I'm biased but I would go with the Accentra, unless there are some issues that aren't obvious from the Craigslist ad. The p61 looks like an older model with manual ignition. Depending on the age of the Accentra, I would offer somewhere between $1200 - $1500.

I would lean towards the Accentra because of the auto ignition already in and ready to go but one can get a update kit for the 61 but its expensive with the control board
Good luck

The Afton Bay has been discontinued, however; the Prescott is really the same stove. The Prescott just doesn't have the bay window door. Other than that it's components are all the same.
