So my splitter is almost done. I just need to get some hoses made.

Now I'm realizing I'm going to need an array of fitting types and sizes. The pump output and pressure gauge are both NPT while most of the other parts are NPTF. Also the pump output is 1/2" while the valve input is 3/4". So I guess use a 3/4" hose?

I don't don't see any issues here, but I don't know much about hydraulics anyway. Is there anything I should know when hoses have different sizes and types of fitting on each end?
 
When buying your hoses with NPT male ends check for internal chamfer. This will be required when connecting to swivel fittings. Also when buying hydraulic fittings look at the internal opening it can vary greatly. Depending on brand and quality the internal passages can be anywhere from 1/4" to 7/16" for 1/2" fittings. Some fittings are made with a small orifice for special applications to restrict flow.

Double then triple check your ends and hose lengths. Swivels will be your friend Costs add up quick. Make sure you know your expected pressures for the properly rated hoses.
 
Thank you both for the info. Is there any standards for the chamfering so it fits the swivel fittings?

Also is there any issue supplying a 3/4" port on the valve from a 1/2" hose?

I will definitely triple check everything. I get the feeling my typical motto of "close enough" doesn't work here.
 
I figured I'd add this drawing. Also I'm planning on having swivel fittings on the ends of each hose at the valve. Should I have them anywhere else?

When I built mine I went to NAPA and the nice LADY down there built my hoses for me with 1ft long adapter hoses (npt on one end, nptf on the other). She just put the ends in a machine and pressed a button and WHAM! Hose attached! I remember teasing her about her powerful grip to attach those hose ends on at the time. We both had a good laugh.

If you talking about a pump suction line, do not choke down sizes. If it is a pressure hose you will probably be fine but could slightly affect ram cycle speed.
 
I'm not reducing the suction line at all. Just the line from the pump to the valve. The fitting is only 1/2" at the pump so I guess there's no point going any larger than that.

That loaded. Thank you. Would you use the swivel fittings everywhere or just on one end of a hose?
 
Simply use a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter on the control valve (coming from the pump output). If the pump needed more than a 1/2 inch it would come that way. Your control valve is rated at a higher GPM than the pump is producing...hence the larger port.
