The smaller Wood Gun has been heating this big house and garage well. Occasionally I get huffing and puffing problems depending on how dry the wood is and it’s size and type. But not bad.

Nozzle replacement needed and now done.
As you can see the shelf on the main, side bricks are badly worn away. I will need to replace the main, side bricks soon. But these nozzle replacement bricks are a new product that AHS now has. They span the gap over to the side bricks. Hopefully this will allow me to get through this season, and maybe the next one too.

Good improvement!
An overlay that extends the useful life of the adjacent ceramics.

I wonder when they did a redesign. I got an extra set when I bought my E140 but they don’t look like that.

The ledge that supports your present center bricks erodes away and leaves nothing for the originals to set on.

I have used the original nozzle design for 6-1/2 seasons. I believe this is the 3rd nozzle replacement. The last one being in January of 2016.

I expect my ledge to look similar when I next replace my nozzle bricks. It will be the 3rd time for me also. Is this new nozzle brick also expected to last longer?
AHS has made several improvements in recent times. I'm waiting to see what the firebox mod will do regarding the huffing. I think I have finally figured how to minimize the huffing for me with the right size splits and the right setting for the air intake. Big splits and intake damper set at apprx. 75% open. I wish there was a cheaper cycle timer retro fit for my old E100. It seems their electronic timer solves the backfire problems but it's too much $$ for me since it rarely happens(only once so far this season that I'm aware of).

They think it will. It is thicker. They are looking for feedback from customers. The thing I am more concerned with is... Will the side ceramics hold up to allow for the life of the new nozzle bricks? I’m thinking my sides may become too brittle from 7 seasons and I may have to replace them before the new nozzle wears out. I will give them a good inspection at the end of this season.

I will probably go ahead and get my money saved up and order the new sides this summer. Have them here while I continue to use the current ones until they must be replaced. Then keep using the new nozzle bricks if they are still looking good.

I am also thinking of getting the firebox big stuff...it ain't gonna get any cheaper and won't go bad in storage. I'm in my 9th season, burn about 4.5 cords per year(mostly ash and maple) and thus far the big stuff is holding up fairly well.
