Boy now I wish I would have waited one more year to buy my FP30 Arch. It now comes with an optional Craftsman Surround that looks really nice. I wouldn't even be able to retro fit it to my FP30 Arch (if that's even an option) due to the stone hearth.

Oh well, if I always waited for the "next one" I wouldn't buy anything

NEW! Upgrade the traditional look of your FP30 Arch with the new Craftsman surround (for Series B units only).

Argh! I am supposed to get my stone done in 3 weeks. Calling my dealer now to see if this can be ordered, how much it will cost me, and how long it will take to come in.

I was quoted $550 plus freight. I will find out tomorrow if there is any chance of getting it here before September 22nd (stonework day).

$550 is not too bad at all. Definitely worth the upgrade in my opinion.
Hope you can get it in time. Good luck!

Well I cannot use the Craftsman surround due to updated clearance requirements. The new surround requires 4 additional inches of height for the mantle. I am 2 3/4 inches short. My mantle is a hand hewn beam that is glued on to 3 5/8" all thread rods. I don't think it's worth risking damage and removing it at this point.

Now to go tell my better half...she was quite excited for the new look.

Oh wow thats a bummer. That 4" extra clearance may have been an issue for me as well, due to mantle and TV height. Oh well.

How do you like your FP 30? In the market ...going around and around and around about which one!? FP30 is in top three for us
I am very happy with mine after my first winter of burning. I averaged 4-6 hour burns due to the warm weather in Missouri. The 10hr burn time is real. Unfortunately for me that is only a few nights it was cold enough for me to pack it full of big splits of white oak. The stove loves big splits.

I am not happy with the remote heat duct due to noise. I believe this is due to vibration in my floor joists though. The heat that comes out is nice.

I researched stoves for about 2 years so I feel your pain. Good luck on your decision!

bfast250, where did you buy your FP30? I'm in the St. Louis area and the only dealer that shows up on a PE website search didn't seem too interested in selling PE.

Hechlers in Troy. They were very patient with me and price was fair in my opinion.

No idea on where to buy your stove, but welcome to another St.Louisian!

I went there today. Matthew was great! I'm considering at an Elegance 36 which I like a lot better than the IHP Ladera I had my eye on.
Both are smaller fireplaces than the FP30. The Ladera is made by BIS who has been in the business a long time. Not sure about the Ambience, first time I have heard of them. (Edit: Looks like they are made by Foyers Supreme.) The firebox seems to be a bit shallow. Will this be for heating 24/7 or night and weekend burning?

Yeah, I realize it's smaller than the FP30. It will be for for night and weekend burning. The dealer said they stopped selling BIS/IHP because of various quality issues. He also said a 2 cu ft box like in the Ladera is frustratingly small. I realize the Elegance 36 is not much bigger at 2.4 cu ft, however. We'll see how the quote looks.

I ended up buying a floor model Elegance 36 for a good deal. About ready to break ground on the home so it will be a while before it's installed.
