The top 10 blocks on my cinder block chimney are either cracked or broken. I want to replace them but I'm not having any luck getting some of the same size. Mine have an outside dimension of 20 1/8" x 16 3/8" x 8". If I can not find any, I'm assuming I'll be starting at the bottom. Any advice?

If you cant find the block then yes you would have to rebuild the whole thing. We get them at our local block yard they have 6 different sizes. What condition are the liners?
It seem ok looking down the inside. So if I don’t end up with the same size chimney block, the siding will have to be modified to fit the new width... What is the closest I can come to the 20 1/8” width?
I would have the liners looked at by a pro chances are if the top block are that bad the liners are bad to. Which means it may not be worth rebuilding with block it may make more sense to take it all down and use a prefab chimney.

Is there a reason that you can not use a different size block and make the top look like it was done with a different pattern on purpose?

I cant see why it would matter if the top courses are different unless its an outside chimney and your worried about the appearance. I just got finished with an inside block chimney and i only regret not INSULATING the flue. Takes awhile to warm up giving more time for creosote to build up.
