This craigslist score is a little out of my way, and I'm wondering if it is worth it. At first I thought this might be apple, but it seems awfully straight for that. Any guesses? These are the only pics provided.

Doesn't look like very much to go out of the way for...
True, but I do all my scrounging in a toyota sedan so this is about the right size for me. It's about 25 mins away, so might not go in any event but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

I feel you on that... I pick up what I can, but without a truck it's hard to get a big score.

did I just read your firewood truck is a Toyota sedan? my first reaction is LOL followed by LMAO, but then I thought deeply and realized - SOLIDER ON BROTHER! you are a dedicated wood burner my hat goes off to you ! Make wood burning great again
Yeah, the Scrounge Sedan can't compare to a truck, but it does have 6 cylinders, a large trunk, and a roomy interior I don't mind scuffing up. People are always surprised how much wood I can jam in there. Maybe when it dies I'll buy myself a nice truck.

In the meantime, anyone have any thoughts on that wood? Maybe red maple? Or maybe it's too hard to tell from the pics but I figured someone here would recognize it.

Looks like red maple.

I too don’t have a truck. But there are ways around that. I have 12 cords stacked and ready out back.

Make friends with a tree company owner was my solution. All the wood I want dropped in the yard is a simple phone call away. If he is in the area I’m doing him a favor by taking it off his hands.

Yeah, same here. I have a couple tree guys who will bring me stuff occasionally, but it is spotty and not that reliable. The backbone of my supply is tree service stuff, but if I just need a little more or see something particularly good on CL not too far away, I will make a run.
