First post here. Just bought a Harman Absolute 63 and started it up yesterday. Wondering if there are any other 63 owners out there that would share some of the good and bad they are having with this stove. This is my first pellet stove. Also what brand of pellets should I burn? Hardwood vs softwood Love the sight been reading it for about a year now..

How do you like the stove? I'm thinking about replacing my wood stove with one of these. I just like the ease of loading pellets and the stove doing all of the work.

gotta try a few samples if you can,,
lot of hardwood and softwood hardcore folks here..for all kinds of reasons..
I'm a softwoods snob due to less ash on many brands but, would never tell anyone to skip on hardwoods..which i pretty much burned exclusive for few years
that said, you have a harman so your good to go burning anything from middle of the road big box stores stash to premium whatever.

if you have a Home depot or Lowes near, try a few bags of those.. HD usually sell stove chows and then work your way up if so desired... good heat the chows but quite a bit of ash..and,,
don't always go by price.
I paid 249.00 ton for top of the line Softwoods [EzBlaze Super premiums.. same price home depot sells the chows.]

I don't own the 63 either but I agree with pretty much everything else Tony said. Pellets can be area dependent too, so like TSC pellets might be different there than from around here further east, for instance.

I switched from wood to pellets in October of 2014 and have zero regrets. I do still have wood heat as in an OWB and stoves but haven't used them since I bought my pellet stove. Pellet stoves are still a bit of work, cleaning, etc but nowhere near dealing with wood. It was a good move for me but it is also nice to have wood capability for when you want it or need it.

I switched from wood in 2000 when i got my quadrafire cb1200 havent looked back. Like Bags I to still have a wood stove in the shed that can be up and going in a matter of an hour if need be. The warden likes it because she don’t like tending the stove every 4-6 hrs just turn up the thermostat lol

Update. I like the Absolute 63 very much. I've burned a little over a ton of Maine premium wood pellets with no issues at all. I clean the ash pan about every 2 weeks. During this bitter cold I have been going through about 2+ bags per 24 hours. I do live in a 1900sq' OLD 1900y house on the coast of Maine.... Wish I could compare it to other stoves, but this is my 1st pellet stove...

I have only used the stove in room temp mode. I haven't looked into running it in manual mode. Anyone have any suggestions on what burn mode works best for them? One thing about the 63 is it's bigger then I thought. bigger then the P68...I do have an OAK and a UPS.. Looking to get a generator for when the power goes out...

The Boss Lady or "warden" lol is another big reason I switched to a pellet stove for the ease of use and being able to control the heat with the flip of a switch or turning a knob. Much easier and when the "warden" is happy and warm we are all happy and warm. Some maybe a little too warm at times but whatever....

If you get a generator make sure you get one with a pure sine wave. The electronics can be very sensitive to a a normal generator. In fact, get a power inverter for the stove only and have it charge your UPS..

I have a Harman Advanced which is 10 years old and has always been noisy.

My neighbor just put in the Harman Allure50 which is extremely quit and holds 92 lbs of pellets.

How is working so far? It looks beautiful and I really like the specs.

I have an Absolute63... ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! This is my second full season with it. Bought it in March of 2017 burned 2.5 ton through it last winter. The stove is a beast! It is our primary heat source. My house is 4400 sq feet on three floors. The down stairs heat pump and furnace is off. The upstairs heat pump comes on only first thing in the morning for a hour to take the chill off. Otherwise it is all pellet heat! I tried many different pellets and came to the conclusion to burn the cheapest pellets I can find. I was burning Trae Fuels (manufacturer in Bumpass VA) for $215 per ton. I was about to get a ton this morning and found they no longer supply to the public. Bought a ton from Tractor Supply for $250.

oh yea... I run it in Room Temp mode using the remote room sensor about 30 feet from the stove. I also use the scheduler to fire the stove at 5:00 am to warm the house! Nothing better than coming down from a chilly upstairs to warm down for cup of coffee by the stove!!

Update. Burned the Absolute for 1 year and it was GREAT. No issues at all... I currently have the stove plugged into a battery pack/surge protector. I'm looking to get a generator and was wondering that since I'm plugged into the surge protector will any old generator work? Or do I need to spend the extra $$ and get a sine wave or whatever they are called one? thx

Happy to see that the newer tech Harmans run like dogs as well. That is promising.

I have the smaller Absolute 43 and am generally happy with it. Found it burns best with Barefoot super premiums. Bought 3 ton bet the summer for 230/ton. My only real gripe is the glass gets dirtied up real fast after cleaning. Like within a day and a half. For the price of it, it's not acceptable. Appearance is partly why we bought it.

Glass on my Allure gets dirty quick also, but it does spend a lot of time idling or low burn.

Just had my 63 installed today - been running since 1PM.

low burn here is under 75..
my glass stays cleaner when it's colder because it runs continuous as opposed to the auto feature of tamping down
on not so cold days..

I u

What is idle or low burn for you? I have mine set for 80 during the day and 75 for about 6 hrs overnight.

Keep mine set at 74/75 but my house is smaller so it reaches temp quickly.
