can you control the temp with an Enviro Maxx? I’m purchasing this unit and was woundering if it came with internal thermostat and can you set the temp?

Thank you, so I have to purchase a thermostat? Does the thermostat have to be place far apart so it doesn’t shut the stove off? Also can you recommend a thermostat that would work as I heard the sensor is sensitive.

Thanks again

Your salesperson can advise you on the t stat, but I would think any low voltage t stat will do

Thanks, he says they are nothing but trouble but wanted one that can be program and is a wireless remote.

That's a big stove, if you run it on manual only, it will use more pellets than needed and cost you money. Using the high/low and auto shutoff thermostat settings will save you money.

Look at the owners manual to see what the manufacturer recommends. I bought a Skytech remote thermostat a few years ago and it works fine. But shop around, I am sure there are better. But you want a remote model so you can put the sensing unit where it works best for your heating comfort.

I apologize for the questions, can the remote set a specific temp and and keep the unit at the level? I look at the Enviro and I can’t see where you can set it to be a certain degree. I ordered it and trying to understand what would be the best remote to order.

Thanks again.

So the stove has 5 heat levels, 1-5, 5 being the hottest. It consumes the most pellets and has increased air flow in the combustion chamber and the convection blower fan. So as you learn the heat levels of the stove and how they relate to the weather outside you will set the heat level you need, so you set it accordingly. If it's really cold then you let it rip at 5 level (though level 5 is really hot, especially for that stove, and I think you will rarely use it).

But start at level 3.

Then the stove has 3 operation settings:

Manual just runs the stove at whatever heat level you have it at.

Auto/off runs with the thermostat connected, so when the room drops to a set temperature, the thermostat calls for heat and the stove turns on. Once it reaches the required temperature, it shuts off. This setting is mostly used in the fall and spring, because you mostly don't need the stove to run during the day on mild days, but do need heat on cold nights.

High/low also uses the thermostat, but it always keeps the stove on. When the thermostat calls for heat, the stove runs at the heat level you set it to (1-5), and when it reaches the desired temp, it turns the heat down to a low, idle flame (level 1). This is where you save pellets, in the idle mode.

Here is the owner manual link, pages 8 to 9.

And the more technical manual, page 8 for the thermostat info. Look for a 12 volt remote thermostat.

If you don't mind me asking, how big of a place are you trying to heat? For your region, this stove may be too much heat.

If you don't mind me asking, how big of a place are you trying to heat? For your region, this stove may be too much heat.

The house is about 3,700 square feet (craw space no basement and near the water), two levels, and three zone areas (three heat pumps)with poor insulation. The issue is we have heat pumps and when it gets below 30, the aux heat comes on and the bill can range from $600-$800 a month.

I put a Mendota FV41 in the front room and this one is replacing a Quadra fire q35 (concerting that box to store pellets). The room is going in is a at the other end of the house(where the QF is located) and looking for it to heat around 2,400SQF.

The house is also long.
So I ordered 3tons of Kirkland pellets and this stove, just wanted to manage the heat with a remote or thermostat.

On a side not I just got my pipes to stop freezing two years ago.

By the way I had nothing but problems with the q35 and LP is expensive that’s why we’re going the pellet stove route. Th house doesn’t have a chimney so the stove would be the most economical, the cost is $3.000 and that’s one of the reasons I chose this over the Harmon Allure50 plus the efficiency and hopper size.

The Maxx is a tremendous heater, running it on heat level 3 or 4 is prob the highest you'd want to use. (we don't drive our cars 120MPH even though some can do it- and its illegal of course...). The hi/lo method is a good way to use it with a thermostat, it saves cycling on the ignitor and the heat levels stay more even because the stove never cools off/reheats from a cold start. Auto on/off cycles the ignitor more, its like hi/lo except after idling after 30 mins, it goes into shutdown and will auto start when tstat calls again for heat. You have a big space to heat sounds like, constant run on heat level 2 will prob work well, if you forego the tstat idea. Good luck with it, its a beast, with a beasts' appetite too if you let it.

Thank you that helps, I will go with the thermostat just need to make sure I place it in the correct area. Again, thanks, this my first pellet a stove, when I near Syracuse we had a wood stove and that crank some serious heat then again it well insulated. I don’t like heatpumps in this area as it often goes below 30 degrees.

Got the Enviro Maxx and hooked up a Skytech 5310p and it works great. The stove is awesome and would like to recommend Mike from Rockland Woodworks in Randall’s town MD.

Great service!!!

I had a enviro mini, loved the stove,. I also have a vistaflame 70k but in basement. Never use it. What I did not like about the enviro thermostat is it turns the stove off and on I believe when reaching temp. I went for a ravelli rv100c which goes to its lowest setting when it reaches thermostat temp. You can program it also to shut on and off at temp if you want it to in spring when mornings are cold but rest of day is warm. The 70k visraflame which is the same unit as the enviro max sure loves the pellets. Be sure to know how the stove works with a thermostat. Going off and on takes a toll on the ignitor

Thank you, yes it loves the pellets and has turned off twice. Are you using the high/low setting or the auto off?

Sal, let us know how the stove does in the coldest of winter. Just wondering for a friend?????

And a picture or 2 of the stove burning would be nice. I don't see too many pictures of the max in action.

This is on high/low setting on 3 and thermostat at 70degrees keeping the front room at 76 (where the unit is) and the other rooms at 69 degrees. The house is three different zones but the unit is heating the rooms nicely. Have not run it in high and don’t anticipate to. It’s currently 49 degrees outside.

Nice. Thanks for the pics.

So using the high low setting with a thermostat the stove never goes out it just goes on a low setting once it reaches temperature and then goes back on the high when the temperature goes down? Pardon my ignorance

That’s how I believe it works, it’s gone off twice though. I believe the auto off should shut off and back on with the thermostat and the high low should go high to reach the set temp and then drop after that. Still learning.
