I'm thinking about buying a used Hearthstone heritage stove, it appears to be a 2006 model

The serial number is 12394. What might the value be for what appears to be a well care for stove that does not show any signs of overheating?

No more than half of new if it’s perfect.

I was going to say 33% of the new price for a 12 yr old stove. It cost a lot less back then.

having used a hearthstone (80xx) for several years I can only say this....free, isnt free enough...whatever they are asking is too much

I sold mine after pushing 30 cords through it. While the stove performed to meet the specifications, it was horribly under built and was quickly wearing out after 6-7 years. It would not have lasted much longer as a primary heat source.

It sure looked good though. Nice big window and mirror polished stone.

Most people don’t burn much. Op, check looseness of door hinges. Like a saggy car door. The hinges and latches were not maintainable on my 2007 model. It was a throw away stove. Check for cracked stones too.

New price? Maybe around $3500. Many improvement in design.
West coast new price is about $3100 for matte black. Probably less on the east coast due to less shipping. Options can boost the price higher.

Make sure doors close properly, especially side door! They are notorious for bad door frames, big pain to replace!!!!

Good plan. Get a stove that will give you years of good service and heat.

Yes, the savings on an item like this that is so easily abused seldom justifies the risk. The technology has gotten better too and might just be as good as it gets.
