Got a fire going tonight, after about 20 minutes shut the air down pretty much all the way. looked as if the secondary burn was going well when I noticed that my middle air tube was glowing slightly red. Does this mean I've overfired the stove?

No, lopis seem to run hot, the tube glowing red shouldn't be a problem, what's your stove top temp?

Mine glow too, sometimes I think it’s just the wood reflecting, but I get them to glow at 350-400 measured above the door on my insert.

Mine have been glowing for 8 years with no signs of damage and they get pretty dang red. I guess that's why there made of stainless to with stand a lot of heat. The baffle supports no so much. Replaced the center on last year under warranty as it was pretty warped and degraded. Inexpensive part and easy to replace

Mine glow red at times, according to the chart about a dark cherry or less. They appear to be undamaged and still function normally. They are acting as a sort of blow torch, so I would expect that area to be one of the warmest.

The tubes on my Lopi glow orange on every full reload. Stove top peaks around 650 usually with one hot spot in the center that always gets to 750.
After hearing from all of you Lopi veterans I think I might have been running my stove too cool. Thanks for all of the advise. Looking into stove top thermometers so I can get a better idea of what's going on.
