I was getting ready for bed last night and heard a 'ting' sound. I brushed it off to just a sound in the house.

I wake up today and in the middle of the floor in the living room i find this...

Its solid metal with two threaded holes.

What the? I'm thinking maybe CNC santa dropped by with a new machined piece but i highly doubt this

Weird. Found it in the middle of a room? Is there a ceiling fan?

Looks like a part off of Santa's reconnaissance sleigh. If you return it to him, you might get back on the "Nice" list .

You might want to check your stove's door hinges. It sort of looks like a nut assembly for two machine screws, as in a hinge. Maybe your ash door, side door, etc.

Maybe, but it looks pretty heavy duty for a vacuum cleaner.

It looks like the left side of a do-hicky from a watchamacallit.

Whats in the area you found it.. Motion furniture, stove, etc

several feet from the stove. its no part im aware of from the stove. no missing pieces from my vacuum. no ceiling fan.

maybe i time traveled back in time to warn myself of something, only failed the mission because this piece broke off of my time machine and my future self was sent spiraling into the unknown !!!

Have you taken a good look at the parts manual for your stove? If you do that, you can rule out that possibility.

Our cat bats things like this around, so where it turns up doesn't mean that's where it started. Have any pets?

Too bad it's not a screw. Then you'd know exactly where it came from. ;-)

If you have a recliner in your living room, check for missing parts there where the chair reclines.

it does look like something used for t-slots, or to hold tracks together. do you have can lights or track lighting?
