I have a “new” Quad. I say new, but it was a floor model they say. Now I’m wondering if they knew it had a problem...

Firstly, I didn’t realize before starting my first (and second) fire that it was suppose to have baffle boards and a blanket. That’s on order. I hope I didn’t hurt something running it without.

Secondly, the “easy startup” timer was disconnected when I got it, but I tightened up the Allen screw and hooked it up, but it seems to work and then get hung up and stop. It will run, as in tick the time and move, but it doesn’t seem to have enough power to move the mechanism at some point and stops short of closing the air hole.

Does anyone here know this model and how the auto startup should work?

My place is about 1200 sqft on this floor, so I’m hoping this unit works out. It’s my first total install, chimney down to the floor and all between.

Thanks for any other advice on this unit/brand as well.

That's no excuse just because it's a floor model. It needs to be complete and safe.

What can change in a box of steel sitting on a showroom floor? It just has missing parts. Should work fine once complete. Doubtful that running it without the baffle hurt it. If anything it would just burn cooler.

Indeed, 10 years ago our stove started out as a floor model - with no parts missing.

Yeah, I realize the wrongness on their part. This is a stove forum not a law forum. Or is it?[emoji2937]

They ordered the parts, after some balking. I’m just doubting it was even a floor model, due to something written on the invoice, but that’s another story.

I was just making sure nothing was hurt, because I did get it hot. My top got over 600 a couple times. I only have one chance to sue, so seeing if it’s a problem or not. Then I’ll head over to my Sue Butts Forum. Now I’m still at my Stove Forum...

Merry Christmas.

I have a quadrafire explorer the auto start sticks too. I heard other people have the same problem

Thanks for the reply. I’m going to take it apart and sand it smoother on the slides to see if that helps. Maybe a call to Quadrafire after that.
