Neat looking little stove. I had a USSC 6039 that I never did get to run right. And a 5500 in my shop that does well.
Any thoughts on this new stove? Havent seen much posted anywhere yet.

Is that the one with a 25 lb. Hopper

That money would be better spent on a Castle Serenity.

Thanks for the link. I read those, and realize that many of those folks are new to pellet stoves, and expect a plug and play experience. I was hoping someone on this site might have had some first hand experience.

First hand experience for 3 days now. the ashley ap5710 has been a nose bleed so far. It does autostart OK and then cycles to a high setting even though the indicator is still on #1 (there are 5 manual settings). It puts out a lot of heat but burns a 20 lb hopper full of pellets in 5 to 6 hours. I tried power cycling and restart to no avail. There are at least 2 other web posts hat describe the same problem. On it has www.usstove.com as the website but the ashley ap5710 does not appear when searched for. When I looked for the serial number, the stove label indicated it is made in China!, did not see that until after install. Right now I'm running in manual mode and turning off during warm part of day and restarting at night. I have to reload pellets during night, bummer. Phone calls tomorrow to try to resolve with USSTOVE. Avoid this unit.

Me again, AP5710 is a problem stove, many complaints the same, over firing. The last time I used it, it over fired so much I shut it off, but it just kept feeding pellets and blowing until it seemed dangerously hot so I pulled the plug. Tech service was vague and days late in responding. So I called the Tractor supply store where It was purchased , and they will take it back for a full refund. Then I bought the KP130, installed it and it's running just fine for 2 days. It responds to the panel commands and puts out heat to the point where I run it on low and it heats my 1500 sq/ft mobile just fine in near freezing weather.

i have a problem with my ap5710. over fills at start up causing black soot to build on window huge yellow flame. they have changed auger motor 2 times both thero discs and the control panel. if i lift the lid 2 minutes into start up and close 4 minutes after it runs awesome. any ideas

Try doing a full stove cleaning
Sounds like it is plugged to me

Good that TSC took it back, can't go wrong with that. Hope the KP130 works out better for you..

Whats up with that? the 6039 has to be one of the easiest units to deal with I have ever owned (I've had 3 over the years) and a couple others on here have them as well. I have nothing but good things to say about mine, 12 flawless years and minimal replacement parts.

Made in China huh? maybe it burns rice better................ :)

I have a philosophy about hard goods made in China but it's political so I won't get into it here. Sounds to me like the old 'maximum profit-minimum expense scenario. Interesting read. I will say the cast door on my 6039 was 'Made in China' but that is common today, producing castings here has become a very expensive undertaking with stringent EPA regs. China has none of that. The door is imprinted with 'Made in China' so I don't see an issue there.

Sounds like it. I wonder if that applies to biomass stoves however. The picture in the article is a chunk wood stove, one of those 'loss leader' box wood units that are notorious for incomplete combustion and heavy particulate emissions.

Always thought USSC was slightly shady, not that most large companies aren't. I retired from one and they always operated in the 'grey' area. How they made money.

Running a foul of the EPA will eventually land you in hot water, only a matter of time. Was an interesting read, especially how USSC, when they were in New York State, used prison labor in their plants, but moved south to avoid union labor. All about maximum profit with minimum overhead. I know I'd not want to work for them. Sounds pretty cutthroat but then I find TSC to be pretty cut throat as well.

Around here we refer to TSC as Tough Shat (sic) Charlies, where most every thing is either scratched, dented or broken. That applies to wood pellets too, Don't know how many times, I've watched one of the store 'associates' impale a skid of pellets with the hi-lo forks and think nothing of it. Why when I buy my pellets I pick the skids I want and stand right there and watch to see the competence level exhibited. If the hi-lo driver is incompetent, I get another. Usually plenty of warm bodies to choose from.

Was in there the other day and I mentioned to the cashier that their Rotella T6 was a couple bucks higher than Menards and she said, they would match the price to which I said 'with a phone picture of the price and she said no, just ell me the price and we will match.

If I wasn't above board, that could open up an interesting scenario. I don't play that way but obviously the markup on stuff like that is pretty extreme.

bet the markup on biomass stoves at TSC is extreme as well. Certainly opens up the bartering.

All those big box stores are terrible. Worked for a major mower company a few years ago and ended up in a sales meeting with a big box store reps. Those big box boys were ripping our sales people up one side and down the other. Telling our guys every tiny detail that was wrong with the spec sheet and telling them how much they would pay. It made me very happy I was just a Engineering Tech and not a sales man. Some of those contracts you had to provide labor/material cost to make. Capitalism can be very brutal at times.

While not on subject exactly, TSC has had the cheapest bird seed of any of the farm stores (Farm and Fleet, Blains and some others around here for a long time so we buy it). Not any more, in fact I was told by the manager they were switching suppliers, to which I replied, 'bet it will increase in price', to which I got the deer in the headlight look.

I bet the company that was supplying the seed got fed up with the low ball price and said pee on ya.

Guess we will be buying seed at Farm and Fleet now. I'm sure TSC's price will increase substantially.
