P35i Burning Mode Questions

Hello,

I just had a P35i installed yesterday and the installer gave me the run down on how it should operate for my house layout and I have some questions. I have a ranch style house with an open kitchen/dining/living area where the pellet stove is. Then there is a long hallway with 3 bedrooms coming off of it.

The installer recommended constant burn with the fan on maximum to heat the whole house. This worked wonderfully but the fan is a little loud being right next to the TV. It also got a bit too warm in the general living area at the 3 setting. He mentioned not messing with the fan speed as it reduces the blower fans life if it not running at 100%, is this true?

I haven't had a chance to use room temp yet but would running the pellet stove on room temp wear out the igniter as it'll be used multiple times a day? What is the expected life span for an igniter?

Harman allows users to be able to control all aspects of their stove. You can run the blower independent of the heat output. Use the fan on high for recovery (bringing your house up to temp), once you have the space warm, lower your fan speed to very quiet. The stove should be able to maintain the temp via radiant heat coming off a very hot stove. You don't need to move much air for circulation but you won't gain as much radiant heat if the stove cannot get hot.

Igniters have a lifespan in excess of 5000 cycles. Keep the air intake inside the pot clean and the igniter should last for 8+ years of constant use.
 
You'll need to play with the settings to see which ones give you the most comfort. For constant burn, fan speed should be medium/low. If you try Room Mode Auto, the distribution fan will rev up/down depending on the call for heat. Depending on the placement of the room temp probe, the stove may or may not shutdown. Each setup is different so you'll receive many opinions.
 
I got my p35i last February, so this is the first full season with the stove. I just sent the temp at 70, and leave the blower on the low side. The stove does an excellent job at holding the temp. I was also concerned that it would cycle on/off a lot. But it does not. I pretty much just start it in the morning, and leave it on until bedtime.
If it is on the warmer side outside, it may tend to cycle. The stove seems to want to keep the fire going all the time.
I to have it near the tv, so I only want the blower on high when the fire is at its peak. It does a god job at regulating fire and blower speed.

So far I love the stove, as a new p35i owner check out my post on auger vibration, just in case this happens. Good luck.

In room temp you can flip the auto/manual lever once running and the stove will stay lit in a “maintenance” burn until it calls for more heat. This will stop the igniter from cycling but use a few more pellets.
 
I normally run my stoves on room temp and haven't had an issue with igniters yet (KOW) - and I'm starting on the 5th year for using the P61a. I would not run a stove in a setting because it may wear out a $65 (or less) part in a couple of years.

As others have stated, run it in different modes and configurations until you find what works well for your needs.
 
Thanks for all the advice! I wasn't sure how expensive the parts were but now that I know I'm not too worried about it. I tried to run it in room temp last night and got 4 blinks, the installers never plugged in the probe. Once I got that figured out it was working perfectly.

There is around an 8 degree difference between the main living area and the bedrooms down the hall but I prefer it a little colder down there anyway!
