I may have over reacted, I've spent a lot of money on this hobby so when things go south I tend to hit a quicker breaking point, my flash over was when the wrong cat was sent to me and I found out it would take another week to get the right one, during which we were suppose to receive the coldest air of the year.
Lets add up some costs:
chimney $2,000 for everything -
BK princess - $3,000 don't remember fully
chainsaws - $1,500
log splitter - $2,500
Tractor - $30,000
Trailers - $2,500
*stupid cat - 300.00 - boil over

BTW - your hideous - I like it lol

$41,800, 72% of which was the tractor.

Are you sure you're mad at the cat?? ;lol

You are within the 100k. You are golden!
my flash over was when the wrong cat was sent to me and I found out it would take another week to get the right one,
Lesson learned; Keep a spare cat on the shelf, even though the 6-yr. warranty is ticking away as it sits on the shelf.
Holy carp, I thought I was bad, spending 3K on a quad. You went 30K on a tractor? _g At this point, what's another K or two? As I said, you need to return the cheesy NC-30 and spend a little more coin to get a Top-Flite secondary stove. C'mon, we need more real-world reports from a detail guy such as yourself.. ==c

hey man, I'm a attention to detail kind of guy,
No chit, I did not see this post before I posted. Have I got you pegged, or what? ;lol

I have both and the 500 df mark on the condar is higher ( position wise ). It can be its calibration. But for sure when i peg the bk probe off the scale, the condar reads 1300-1350.
Isucet? Finally I see a post that explains my stoves which I thought operator error was my problem! When wife sees 5-6 OC she turns t/stat down till it stalls after a few opens air till it catches fire. I guess what you’re saying is at 5-6 o’clock let it be?

I am sure @BKVP knows what the cat/probe temp is when you guys peg your machines at 5-6 o’clock.

He already indicated that running it at 1500+ is too hot.

So is the gage the problem? We don’t like to run the combustor this hot but sometimes we can’t babysit this gage!

You know, many that burn 90% of the time on low do a hot burn once awhile for an hour or so. For sure the cat will peg under those conditions. Sometimes I run the fans for 5 minutes or so or just let it be. The fans does not cool the cat, just the stove top and trick the probe.:)
Overdraft can cause that too. I have the original cats and one is since late 2015/16 winter. I feel they still lighting off fine and working correctly. Never have to give them a bath or pull them out yet. Just vacuum the front and the back when I do chimney cleaning.
I don't think she is doing nothing wrong. It is okay to cut it down if is getting there. That is plenty of heat. Lol

Sometimes I load them early and stay till late night watching TV or whatever and I catched them many times pegging the probe on their own. I don't know what to say but like mentioned before my cats are working correctly and no cracks, crumble etc. Maybe @BKVP has something to say but I don't know how you can have control over that.

I have both as well and experienced what you have.

So you feel comfortable with the condor reading you get to say let it be?

I do. What other choice I have.
I don't know if the brightness of the cat is related 100% to temp.
I can have a pegged probe and the cat is not that bright orange. Other times is like a night light and temperatures are around the same, unless I am missing something. You know, at 500 degree when you shut the bypass the cat can light of nicely and real Bright with a full load. But it is just 500 or 600 at that time. I don't know how much is the relation between temperatures and brightness of the cat.

Why did you wait two years to say this I thought I was the only one with this crazy cat temperament lol

So you feel comfortable with the condor reading you get to say let it be?
Absolutely! and have trusted it for almost 3 years now...I inspect the cat at each cleaning and it is no worse for the wear.

There are several people here that peg their BK cats here. And no one seem to care. In the VC thread people freak when they hit 1800 since they know it means $$$$$$

Look, I dropped three pieces in there after work more than an hour ago. It is dialed low. For an hour or so. Look the probe and the brightness of the cat. That is why I said, I don't know how much is the relation between temperatures and brightness of the cat that looks like it is over firing it.
I don't think that cat is that bright to keep the probe up there.
Somebody else will have to explain that.

That is what I see on mine!

3 o’clock probe, 1500 condar, very red cat, not bright orange!

Condar 1100 df.

How about the cost of your elegant woodshed?
It doesn’t count?
Maybe not 100 K but I think you are at least half way there.

Interesting.

Going by the scale I will say around 60/70 when I got it.

Hm
Then perhaps, the spring is celibated differently. What do you know.

Only one way to settle this is ship all of us Crazy Cats a condor instead of socks.
