My apologies if this topic has already been discussed. I am new to the forum and also a new pellet stove owner. I bought a Harmon 52i insert and had it installed by the dealer. My issue is that whenever the stove is burning high to heat up a chilly room, it makes a very loud and disturbing base hum (like blowing over the top of a coke bottle). The dealer has been out twice and told me that is a characteristic of the stove. We love the stove the at times the hum is unbearable. Has anyone had a similar issue and can it be corrected. Thanks for any info. you can pass on. Bruce 19

That's BS. I purchased Harmon XXV in May and used it starting Sep. Good 2 months. The Distribution Fan developed loud hum on High. Would go away on Medium Fan Speed. Soon it was all the time. 2 Screws were impacting the fan housing. Shorten the screws, SOUND Gone.

Now it developed humm when cold. Not as loud. 3 Min it's gone until next shutdown. Went thu the stove and applied Red RTV to anything that could buzz. It helped, but still cold buzz. I can live with that.

I was so sure of the fan being bad had dealer order new one and gave up on them after 16 days and bought one myself from Glaxo. You can find part number here in sticky for Harmon Stoves

Thanks for the insight. I suspected the base hum was coming from the exhaust fan but I am willing to explore any suggestion to get it under control or like you, to a point where I can live with it. Not sure if "cold" is the correct description in my case. It only occurs when the stove is working to bring the room up to the set temperature. Once the stove goes into a maintain temperature mode it goes away. Its a very "deep base" hum.

Best way to get service--post a short video clip, make sure the sound is good, here,or youtube, and link it.Then inform dealer about the clip,so he and Harman can check it out.

You need to try to isolate the noise source. Find out what is happening when you hear it, Is the auger running? Blower motor? Combustion motor? Once you figure out what is running you may be able to find the source.

Nobody on this forum has ever heard a sound coming from a Harmon stove. It’s impossible!
