Pretty much sums up my experiences with Honda small engines and gensets...

Good info to pass along OP. I don't want this to be a brand bashing thread. Tons of people have Honda gens and Honda powered items, including myself.

On small motors, my luck historically has been much better with Kawasaki, then Briggs Vanguard, Suzuki, and Honda dead last. They just always let me down at the worst possible times, and cost me the most to repair.

What is the issue?

'May be a safety issue'.

Huh. Would be nice to know more.

I have never had any issues with any of my Honda stuff. Except for the odd plug going bad.

"Do not use the generator until repaired by Honda."

Reminds me of the Cuisinart recall. Now, that was a hardship. :)

Recalls can be mandated for safety issues. Depends on the product and who's watching. I discovered myself a serious Honda issue, no recall. They knew about it, and had it documented. They fixed it no charge. Companies won't do anything unless they are required to.

Cars have lots of silent recalls that may or may not be safety related where they might fix something and never say anything when it comes in for service. Kinda tough to do with equipment that never comes in for oil changes typical use repairs.

We had one of those in our 2006 Civic. Rear suspension components with improper geometry causing excessive tire wear. But they told us all about it when it was done, no secrets kept.

They aren't really recalls and they shouldn't be done without your knowledge (that whole liability thing). They're Technical Service Bulletins basically just a specific repair procedure for non safety related problems, they'd be free under warranty, maybe covered outside of warranty depending on the issue and how widespread it is.

Things like ECU flashes, a batch of incorrectly routed interior wires, things that can be an annoyance.

I looked into this recall since I have the exact Honda in question. No reference to the 2200 on Honda’s website under recalls. There was a recall on the 2000 for loose fuel lines about 5 years ago. But I can’t find this recall on Honda’s web site. Look at your fuel lines feeding the carb. If loose tighten. The recall on the 2000 was for leaking fuel lines due to loose clamps
