The threading on my bakelite handle has gone and it won't stay attached. The part is the "Bakelite Handle 72mm (Part #: 79118300)"

I've found it on a ton of sites in the UK for under £10, but nobody wants to ship to NA/Canada for anywhere close to reasonable prices.

Does anybody in North America sell these parts? My stove supplier's parts supplier wants $40 plus shipping for one of these jobbies, which I'm hoping to avoid paying the extortion rates.

Alternatively, is there any way to repair it?

I've tried wrapping the male-threaded handle rod with aluminum foil to bulk it up, then screwing the bakelite handle over that. Works okay for a couple days, but eventually falls off.

The handle gets pretty hot, so is there some sort of high temperature epoxy that would work? I'd rather not attach it permanently, but...

Thanks!

You could try a high temp loctite--might work if it's not tooo loose, and it's not permanent...

Regular JB weld melts at 600°F, and is rated for use at 500° continuous (so you would not want to have it at 550 for hours).

Hit the metal handle with your IR thermometer next time the stove is cranking and see if it gets that hot.

They also have a product called "JB Weld Extremeheat" that is rated for 2400° continuous(!), but I haven't used it. Regular JB is awesome.

My dealer in Ellsworth Maine can get parts, maybe he can ship them to you. Why can't the dealer you bought your Morso stove from source your parts?

Here's a link to my dealer's website: http://www.mainepelletstove.com

Nice to see another Morso owner, especially a fellow squirrel stove owner!

The handle on my 2B broke in half. I put it back together with regular JB Weld and it has held up fine for over a year.
What kind of stove top temps are you seeing? The handle on my 2B Classic never gets super hot. This makes me think I'm not running it as hot as it could be.

I have never actually measured the temp of my stove. The handle gets hot but it has never been too hot to touch......at least for the brief amount of time I normally have to use it.

There are just so few folks using morso stoves on this forum, I had hoped to find someone to compare notes on. I'm always wondering if there's a better way to run the stove.

I don't have much to offer. I think its a cool little stove. I have mine installed in the basement and startup can be tricky until I get it drafting properly. Once it gets going though, it is great. Once I get a good layer of ashes built up, its not unusual to let the fire go out and find hot coals buried in the ash 2 days later. My only other reference as far as wood stoves go is the little woodstove I use in my tent.
