Will not handle the heat plus that's sheet metal so thin

So I just had my inspection done and passed, he said I did a pretty good job with the install for someone who has never done it before. Now for cheaper home owners insurance, and that $500 grant from the state for getting a cleaning burning unit. lol

Just a quick observation, your waiting until the unit hits 800 deg before engaging the cat? Is it 800 deg stove top? it seems a little high, I would be concerned about warping the by-pass plate seal at 800 deg stove top.

Cat temp, stove top don't get past 450°

Ohh ok that makes better sense

Its cold out 18° and I can tell lol got the air open all the way, cat temp 1300° but its 83° inside so we good lol. Been burning straight for the last 2 days. Load her up around 4pm with some red oak then before bed I cut the air way down low then get up around midnight to check it and throw some more pieces in. Im out the house at 4:45 am for work so I let wifey throw a bag of 10 bricks in and leave the air low and fan at half speed at 7:30 when she leaves. I get home at 3:30 house 77° all I do is throw some red oak on the remaining coal and she is off again. So far 2 thumbs up.

So My last power bill was $70.57, 482 kwh used compared to 1111 kwh used this same time last year so I'm pretty happy with that. Only barely used the baseboard heat in the room briefly. So I cut my usage by more than half this year. February last year was my highest usage over 2300 kwh so we shall see how it compares this year, majority of my power gets used in the winter well with this new insert that is no longer the case. Now I'm thinking about investing in solar panels to knock off my bill completely and sell power back to the grid. My co worker gets paid every 3 months from the power company and hasn't had a power bill in years, just might be my next project.

so i haven't pulled the cover to check on the cat converters but it seems like i will have to when this fire goes out. Might be a few days though cause it gonna be a cold weekend. I noticed the fire slows down with the cats engaged, even at 1000 degrees cat temp. The fire gets alot better with the bypass pulled so i'm thinking i might have some clogs going on or something. Imma try to see if i can get them to 1300 degrees and see if that helps while i wait to check them when the fire dies out

I have a HighValley 2500 insert that came with my house.
After learning about the model I tore it apart to find the catalyst to be broken into many pieces.
I bought two identical catalyst and gasket material to replace it.

I question the outcome so I reached out to:
1) HighValley Stoves parts with no reply.
2) A distributor with no reply.
3) The company that owns HighValley Stoll aid they sold the company to
Suppertime Stoves: Phone: 800-626-2249 Email: [email protected] Alternate email: [email protected] Alternate phone: 519-878-3728

I don't recommend HighValley at all.
Why sell something with no specifications or support?

I simply need to know the proper gasket size for the catalyst?
There is an 1/8th in play all around the catalyst.

Thank you for your help

HighValley catalyst called part CATUNI is
2.875'' x 6.875'' x 2'' Catalytic Combustor Replacement

My Cats are broken to, i've always got parts from http://www.highvalleystoves.com/stoveparts.php, broke the door glass last December and got a replacement from them with no problems. For the cats i will get them from http://appliedceramics.com/. They got the cats and you just buy a roll of the gasket material and cut off what you need.

I have a roll of gasket material around my CAT, there is still has another 1/8 play all around it the CAT once installed
IIs that normal?

The interam gasket material swells to seal gaps when it gets hot. I'm pretty sure it would cover the 1/8" of play but I'm not absolutely sure. You could cut the gasket long enough so it would cover two of the four sides with two layers of gasket...
