Yeah, it's about to get real cold around here in the next couple of weeks. Just saw the forecast. I am going to be buying some more bags are HD. I see some 2 bags a day coming my way.

I got my 4th ton today so I'm good for the season. From a local masonry/fireplace dealer that the ProPellet company referred me to. $262.50/ton is more than I ever paid for pellets, but they were good folks, knew how to handle a fork truck, and the pellets were stored inside. Supposed to be lots of subzero temps coming, and the roads are clear this weekend, so good time to do it. With any luck I won't need to break into this ton until next season, but I'd rather be prepared. Never know how long the super cold will last, or how long winter will drag out.
It has been really hard gauging show much pellets to buy this season, so it's better to be safe than sorry (out of pellets).
So far I have burnt Stove Chow mostly and they have been ashy but are worth it because they burn hot.
These are some temp readings at the middle heat setting (number 3). It quickly brought the front of the house up from 64 to 73 (mom is cold at 71 degrees
) in 1.5 hours - then the thermostat kicked in and turned the stove down to the lowest setting.

And at the exchange tubes - around 600.

Hi Daksy,
I am not happy with the way the cleanfire blend is burning this year. I have been ordering them for the past 5 or so years from woodpellets.com, and this year they seem way off. I opened a bag the other day and I found small clumps (got wet). How are they burning for you?

Just got a ton of Cleanfires, after burning two tons of Okanagans. Much more ash than the previous two tons.

Yeah, I may not order them again this year. For years they were great pellets.
Here in south central Kansas we’ve never burned more than about 80 bags in a winter. This year I’m thru 2 tons already. I usually buy 2 tons every fall because I have 30 bags or so left over from the previous winter. I was smart enough to go out a few weeks ago to buy what I could find but now no one has any anywhere. I’ll buy 3 tons this fall.

10 bags left from 1st 4 tons. 1 Ton still unwrapped. Was hoping to not open it. Been very cold for Feb. Hope to go on Heat Pump very soon!. But looks like I will be opening the last ton. I started with 5 tons.

Yeah, my local HD is out of pellets. Only Lowes has them, but that was a few weeks ago when my dad bought some.
Haven't gotten any more pellets since then, and now this cold snap coming next is really going to put a dent on the remaining stash. They are forecasting lower teens on Tuesday.

just had 2 tons of EzBlaze permiums dropped off wenesday...

Yep I keep six ton in the basement and I've only have gone through a little over 3 ton. I have a dealer in Maine that sells all year around and his best prices are in April which match the big box stores. So I will always order them and they're delivered free.

my mistake.. actually keep 5 tons ahead but,,,,,, do not get free delivery. pay 35.00 ton then 15 each ton after... lucky you..

For sure it seems there was shortage for pellets. My local HD had stove chows and within a week they ran out of the last shipment. I cannot buy a whole TON as I don't have space where to store it, so I am now getting the white bags from TSC.
What I notice is: yes, stove chow are "hotter" than TCS white bags (which I think are Maine woods) but my stove goes through the chows in ~13 hrs. up to 14 hrs, while the TCS white bags last for 16 hrs or more. I will do another test tonight with TSC, but my take is that chows burn hotter only because their size are smaller and more fall into the pot. Otherwise, why would they only last 14 hrs tops?

Just opened my last ton but 2 friends that are dealers have plenty Remington just got a load yesterday of energex Rudds have 54 ton in the warehouse
Had been using Lake Isabella pellets,,, bought a ton T-giving weekend for $160 at local Ace Hardware,,,, running low...the plant burned down late fall...Now bought 15 bags of Meadly Bros....for less than ton price, at Ace again.
Both brands have been very, very clean... and burn well.

well, my serenity has no fancy control over the auger past the stall 1. I just checked and TCS pellets last me about 19 hrs and still had some pellets which i would think another hour. To see if they produce the same heat as stove chow (not scientifically method) I'll increase to stall 2, which means auger will feed more frequent than in Stall 1. Let's see how much TCS pellets will last in that setting.

I thought sure I was going to run out but have almost a ton left at the beginning of March. The Vermont pellets burn clean and hot, I’ll get them again.

Where in Western Mass. can I find these. How much a ton? Williamstown is the only place in W. Mass on their dealer map and that's way too far. Anything closer to Greenfield?
