Currently I'm trying to fault find my control board. All my outputs appear to be there except the 115vac output to the convection fan. It's definitely on the board as I've metered the wire harness and was able to confirm the snap disk is working. Does anyone know if there is a schematic for the board out there anywhere. The control box is a HHT# 7000-205. I have two of these boards and both appear to have the same fault. Referring to the harness schematic figure 32. 1 from the manual (page 32) there should always be voltage present on the purple line (pin 11) but all I see there is 0 vac. Does anyone have any idea where I should start?
 
If no power in purple wire, check fuses and wire harness, or control board is bad. kap
 
I've checked the fuses and they are all good as is the wire harness. I know the control board is at fault and I'd like to fix it. I have 2 control boards and they appear to have identical faults. They are multilayer boards so I wonder if there might be a problem with the runs between the layers.
 
The intregal parts of the control board are above my pay grade. lol I am sure they can be fixed if you know how. I think there is a control board schematic floating around on this forum somewhere, but wouldn't know how to find it. kap
 
your probably looking at a smoked Triac or optocoupler on the board itself. I haven't had a bad board to trace the circuits yet (keep me in mind Kap next one your gonna toss) but the triac controls the voltage for blower. there is a triac for each blower and auger motor.

I agree it's probably one of those two items. I'm only seeing 2 Triacs that share a heat sink, not sure which one may be at fault I think the auger may be controlled differently (not sure though).
 
I do have an old gray one. Don't remember what is wrong with it, but you are welcome to it Ssyko. kap

1 triac per motor, 3 legged device. Use multimeter to ohm out (look for circuit by reading meter for zero ohms) purple wire to circuit board, then board pin to triac lead which will be drain or source. The gate pin controls the current flow between drain and source.

Usually these trials short out between drain and source which keeps the motor running constantly. So in your case you might have an issue with the control side of the Triac.

Comparing resistance between each triac on the same pins can help identify the one that pu s different and usually faulty.

I've replaced these before, think they are 6 or 8 ampere rating, but can be found for $5 each by googling.
 
components will be the same just a new layout and newer microcontrolers but you can trace from the card edge in

can you read the part number on the chip itself?
 
Well there is no way to test the ssr (aqh2223 solid state relay) without removing it from the circuit and using a power supply. Using a voltmeter to test an SSR Won’t work because the voltage and current needed to trigger the output of an SSR are not present and therefore, producing erroneous readings.

Yes testing some ic's and components in circuit is definitely problematic at times. And I lost my oscilloscope in a fire a few years back.
