It looks like they have pulled this item from their site. It was a heat pump water heater for space heating. 34000 btu for like 3000$.

Anybody know why? I have been hoping that this technology would see more use and not less.

We sold out of our stock of DHW HP. They were new old stock. Nyle Corp., in Brewer, Maine, made some of the units we sold. They were making the Geyser, which was a successor to our units, but were getting beat up in the marketplace because they could not get Energy Star ratings on the Geyser. Energy Star apparently is a bit political and only rates units with tanks. Nyle finally said screw this and only makes BIG units for hotels in the South and Caribbean. We made some tanks for their test units.

The bigger heat pump is on eBay for $2500. I forgot to change it on our website. These units are best suited for radiant slabs and convectors and radiant panels. They are reversible when used with convectors.

Thanks Tom. To be clear, this thread has nothing to do with domestic water heat but the air source heat pumps for space heating and cooling. My personal situation is an 1800 SF slab with tubes in it that need a boiler and in my location a heat pump is ideal! The fact that the your device disappeared is exactly why I was waiting and hoping for more of these heat pump boilers to hit the market.

I just can't understand why this technology hasn't gone mainstream.

$2500 and you're in like flint. :)

I'm not about to buy anything from ebay and certainly not anything for 2500$! Others might have no problem with that method though.

As a buyer you have all the protection on eBay.
9 yrs ago i bought an excavator for 42K,but our money was a bit higher then was only around 40K when the money was exchanged.Didn't worry about it at all.
Now as a seller that is a different story, you pretty much need to be willing to walk away from anything your are selling.

Ebay buyers have lots of protection. As a buyer, I can quickly reconcile issues. Sellers have less protection although EBay does help with fraud.
You can buy it on our website www.heatingstuffllc.com. Price is same as ebay. Just email me through the site. The web guy has not changed the selling price yet.

I don't trust my DIY skills for a $2500+ appliance. How much would install run in the downeast area for something like this?

Depends on the hook up. I would get estimates. Technically, it is plumbing with PEX and simple electrical connections. And a pad or stand to put it on.

Hi Tom , question for ya. Do these types of heat pumps have a seer rating?

I couldn’t find one but very good cop ratings which maybe you could use?

Hey, OP here, thank you Tom for showing us where to get these again.

Has anybody done an install? This one or another like it? I would love to read about an actual installation with all of the details, challenges, and victories. These things seem to good to be true!

No SEER rating. We are working with the Mfr. to get some third party testing done. We have found they are working best with radiant slabs and the convectors that we offer. I think they would work well with radiant panels for heating not cooling because when cooling you need to catch the condensate.
I have one heating a large indoor pool. We had another cold climate heat pump in place to heat the pool and had a lot of issues with controls and leaks. That is what intrigued me about the monoblock heat pumps. No on site refrigerant plumbing.

We have a number of units here in Maine.

This is perfect for me. Too good to be true? Low heat load, in floor radiant.

How long has this been on the market? Long enough to establish a track record? Is there technical support available? I ask because I have a Daikin mini split from hell that has had every problem you could imagine and the installer is not able to fix it. I, as an end user cannot get any technical help from Daikin.

This is my insulated slab and 1800 sf shop. 1800 lf of tube in the slab, unused, and I’m heating with a wood stove when it’s mid 50s outside! Heat pump water heater would be at a COP of like 5 right now!
