Hi all,

I have a Quadrafire Castile pellet stove and there is a high-pitched squeal coming from one of the fans. I can't determine if it's the exhaust fan or the convection fan. The sounds changes when I change the speed from low-medium-high. In fact, the squeal disappears altogether after a minute or so of being on high. I believe this switch controls the pellet feed rate and the fan speed. Does anyone know if the switch controls the speed of both fans? I'm trying to figure out which fan I'll need to replace. Thanks for your help.

Check to see if the fans have oil holes maybe just needs some lub
also try cleaning them compressed air works well

The exhaust fan starts running when you first start the stove. The convection fan starts when the stove attains enough heat to trigger the start, This usually 4 to 7 minutes after you start the stove. If the squeal does not start until the stove calls for the convection fan to start, then it's the exhaust fan that is making the noise.

Agree with above look for some oil ports or give it a clean and a dab of oil.. From my experience once they start squealing then oil is just a bandied for maby a year then you will need to replace it. It was a good thing when i replaced mine it was quieter during running and seemed to be more efficient

You mean "If the squeal does not start until the stove calls for the convection fan to start, then it's the convection fan that is making the noise." ?
