Had 2 big oaks in my back yard. One would've taken out half my house and with a new baby the wife was ready to put that tax refund to work. Of course I kept the big stuff. 3 guys did both in a day even with some on off heavy rain. 2 had sneakers on which completely shocked me. only made it home briefly on my break to check it out. Wish I saw them drop the big stuff. Definitely have some work to do to cut all of this up. Up next is some dead oak limbs hanging over the house. I used to separate companies based off my quotes for each job.

What a haul of oak firewood! I love it.
I do a lot of work with a chainsaw. I have built 4 custom log cabins turn key by myself and the chainsaw is running all day cutting those dovetail notches.
But I ain't gonna climb a tree with a saw. That is some dangerous work.
Those tree guys have some guts.

If I had a bigger lot I probably would've had a portable mill come and get me some slabs. Oh well. The wife and baby should stay warm for the next few winters and I will move the shed to the fence to clear up the backyard and stack most of the wood behind it. I'll start cutting it this weekend but need to finish tiling a shower more importantly.

Burn it! Not good for slabs. If you are going to make furniture, or build a log cabin, you need a winter cut when the sap is down.
Much less shrinking, checking and splitting.

Late April. Bad timing for furniture.

WOW!! Is one of them a red oak? I can't be sure. Nothing is better than having a threatening element turned into as asset. And you get to cut the rounds as perfectly as you wish.

They are both red oaks. Getting the white oaks on the side of my house trimmed up in a couple weeks. It'll be less than this but still a decent amount of wood.

WOW! I'd love to whack a few of those in half. What fun (for the first few hours)!!

moving the shed over the stump against the fence to free up some yard space and stack some of the wood behind it so the wife doesn't need to look at all of it.
Yeah, I don't think my wife is always happy to see my wood, either. ==c

My wife is always happy to see the wood pile
She also helps split and stack . After 40 years of it she
knows it keeps the house warm with out having to pay the
oil man ,
