Being an old man with bad back and old splitter, I needed a way to get some of the larger logs up on my splitter.
This little ramp seemed to do the trick.
Wood ramp and a piece of roll roofing nailed at the top made getting these 20" white oak pieces on the splitter easy.

That's just flat brilliant. I tell you what, even on a good day I don't think I could lift that log on the splitter. Great idea!

What kind of roll roofing is that?

Thats the same way my grandpa does it. He uses a thick plank of oak to roll the monsters up onto the splitter, no roll roofing though. I also use a plank when needed for super mosters, although I can crank the jack all the way down on my splitter and get the toungue/wedge area almost completly on the ground and just roll stuff right onto it.

Sorry, I should have said rubber roofing, it's just a scrap from another job.
Anything strong and flexible should do, you just grab it at the bottom and the log rolls right up.

Very creative. Love the locust log too!

Very nice...

What kind of bracket are you using to stow your hatchet?

Impressive. Big rounds of locust weigh a ton. When they get that big I change the splitter to split vertically.

I only wish it was locust, the leaves say white oak.
Locust is nice, so is white oak. Out here white oak is as rare as hen's teeth. Enjoy that good hardwood.
