if you can move it or get to the back of it, there might be a plate on the back that will provide you with some information. That would be a good place to start.

Are you in Wales? My name is Lewis, I am Welsh.

Puts me in mind of a peat stove with that retaining wall inside. Here's an interesting article about how to fire one of those up!

Looks like he's a bit east of Wales.

More pictures!

Interesting fuel source. In the comments it says they used to just dry the peat and burn it directly. The bricks in the article are actually made like bio bricks. I guess it's like burning soft coal maybe?

On topic, that is a pretty stove. There are a few members of these forums that have experience with this type of stove.

Yea, that looks like peat/coal stove. They made stoves in Europe that were designed to burn coal briquettes made from coal dust compressed. I have such a stove made in the late 20's early 30's from Germany.

I have been looking for specialized information on Peat stoves in the United States and this post seems about the best I have found thus far. I am hoping to be able to put a stove inside my business. I know I can do a wood stove, but I would like to find a peat burning stove. town I am in used to use peat to heat homes in the early days and I thought it would be cool to re-introduce that spell to town while heating my space/adding character. Does anyone here have any place they can point me to how I might be able to do this? do I need a pre 1993 stove? I am in New England so old stoves are plentiful, but I also face tight zoning

Older Irish multi-fuel stoves can burn peat. It is a controversial fuel.

I think finding peat fuel would be an issue.

I found that article, it does not relate to me because a: I don't plan to use it as a primary fuel, just an ambiance piece. B: im not concerned about the carbon emissions as its a minor amount of usage. My primary heat source will be through a heat pump, secondary is natural gas furnace and 3rd will be the wood stove with occasional Peat bricks added in on the weekends
