Help installing door rope gasket on Quadrafire Classic Bay

As the post indicates I am replacing a rope gasket on my stove and am have become pretty frustrated. I have changed door rope gaskets before but not on this stove. I ordered a 7/8" rope gasket (as indicated in the owner's manual) and after removing the old one and cleaning out the gasket channel using a dream tool wire brush I placed the new gasket as I have with other stoves but when I shut the door it will not close all the way. I did not use too much adhesive and I painstakingly have pressed the rope down into the channel and it sits flush maybe a hair above the top of the channel like the old one but when the door closes it seems like the rope is too large or too dense. The rim around the door opening presses into the rope as the door closes but the gasket simply seems too thick. Is it possible the fiberglass rope is more dense and thus will not compress as easily as the original one? After fighting with the gasket I for over an hour removed it and cleaned the channel again. I don't think I can reuse it because there is a coating of adhesive on it. Has anyone successfully replaced a rope gasket on a CB Quadrafire pellet stove and if so what brand gasket did you use? Any tips what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for the replies. I will get a new gasket suggested and try it. I did notice something else after I posted the request for help. When I close the door without the gasket I see that the top part of the door is closer to the frame than the bottom and when measuring the distance I find that the top is indeed about 1/8" closer and is the first part of the door/gasket to make contact.There doesn't seem to be a way to adjust this plate where the door pin is located other than prying the piece of metal with a flat head screw driver or similar tool. Not sure if 1/8" difference would cause the issue but when I examined the gasket that is where is see the indentation mark. If that is indeed the cause is there a better method to create equal space between hinge pins and the stove frame?
