By the rings a 25-35 year old tree. Growth rings pretty far apart. Agree don't think it's Ash and either metal or some concrete in the center. Would leave the rest of it where it is. Not worth the aggrevation.

A couple years ago we had a silver maple taken down. 7ft across at the base. Ends up it was a cut off from 100 years ago, and 3 sprouts grew as one. They took the base away in a dump truck, 7ft dia by 10ft long - filled the truck. Had my tree house in the thing years ago. Of course 50yrs back into the tree rings were all those left over nails. Got over 5 cord out of it all, even minus the trunk.
Little different when you are talking about a band saw loop that is 15' or more in diameter and around 6" wide or a huge tub grinder system which is even more of pia vs a few 72 link chainsaw blades. That band saw blade could be in the $500 on up range vs $20 for yours. Changing out 1 of those bands out is a huge pia. and not a 1 person job. At $35 cord I would be all over that like flies on pasture paddies, log cord here is a min $125 + delivery.
Up here in Winter Wisconsin cords of red oak or hard maple are $80 a cord delivered and that price is current. Delivery of the cull wood from the chipper plant is $10 a cord plus $0.30 a mile so about $140 for 12 cords for the 30 mile trip to my place from Park Falls WI. I might buy a truckload this summer yet I don’t know, scrounge wood up here is very easy to get too.
