Hey guys, Checking in from CT, new here to wood stoves and firewood in general. great site with lots of handy information that I enjoy reading. Any who i bought a new house some months back so I plan on getting a wood stove before the winter. But I have already been stock piling up on wood, some from Craigslist and some from a guy I know who does tree work. I know it won’t be ready to burn this winter maybe some of the ash wood I got and already split and stacked will be but a moisture meter will determine that. The first picture I think was from a maple tree but I never got to see the leaves and the truck load I know was oak from the leaves but no idea of what kind of oak tree. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
 
Welcome aboard. Yes lots of good advise to be found here, the best I recall was --- get three years ahead and you will always have dry wood. As for what you got here I agree maple & oak. Good luck and you may want to consider Woodstock Soapstone Co. in NH with your stove journey. Keep us update on your journey. All the Best !!

I'm also from CT. To me the wood in the truck is 100% maple. You can see it was tapped at one point in time. The black ovals around the perimeter are definitely signs of maple syrup taps. (I make maple syrup) The top looks like oak or cherry
