I just got a delivery today and the price per gallon is 3.41. I am in NH. Does this sound right? Is there anyone else up here in New England that knows what propane should be selling for or a site that shows updated pricing?
Thanks

I paid 3.55 gal about 3 weeks ago.

I guess my delivery was not out of line then. I only use propane for my cooktop and an insert in the gameroom. I was considering a propane inline instant hot water heater instead of using my oil furnace, but I will have to re-consider and really check if it is still worth the investment. I am glad my pellets heat my entire home..
Thanks for the reply..

My last delivery was about 6 or so weeks ago and the cost was 3.97/g....i called on Wed of this week to check pricing and a few other questions and the woman told me that it went down to 3.77/g. i told her i was starting to shop around for othe suppliers and to make me happy she dropped the price per gallon on my next delivery by .20/g...not much but something i guess. and she kept telling me that propane doesnt drop in price as fast as oil.i guess i couldnt figure that out myself..hahaha

Here in Maryland I am paying 1.98 and it is still dropping. It would need to get to 1.40 before I would think about not burning pellets.

11-20-08 home delivery

This should last all year, we only use it for two hot water tanks and on of them is an ondemand system

This site gives you weekly national averages retail and wholesale. If you click on the "more info" button you can find an individual state. Check out the wholesale vs. retail prices in your area. I am paying 3.55/gallon, the whoulsale price is about 80 cents/gallon. Someone on another thread said that propane has not come down because the retailers purchased their winter stock in the summer when it was high. Could be... but that still doesn't explain why I am paying 100% more than someone else in another part of the country.

Just a thought but that other retail area might have sold out and resupplied at the lower rate.

Great site,
The interesting thing is it shows last year the wholesale price for the east was 162.4 with the retail at 290.4.
This year is wholesale at 86.7 and the retail is 290.5.

Am I right in thinking that someone is making an addl 1oo+% profit this year over last?

Maybe, but we're talking about entire regions of the country. I don't think that you see such great discrepencies with home heating oil, gasoline, natural gas, pellets.. 10-30% maybe, but not 100% more in some states than others. I don't know, it's just frustrating....It's Friday, time to crank up the pellets and have a beer!

Sounds a little high, but I guess it depends on the volume you use annually. I'm due for a delivery in the next 3 weeks, I'll let you know what I get hit with. I am thinking < 3.15
This is a decent site for tracking trends in fuel prices in NH

Kind of makes you appreciate the stability of LP over #2 heating oil. Fewer BTUs per gallon, but a decent value if you look at the last 2 years. The problem is that you have to be very careful what kind of contract you get yourself into. True for oil too, but for propane they seem to be really big on absolutely screwing low volume users.

2.35 / gallon in Central NJ

Excited to say we finally have something for less than other areas, its rare to say so here in Central California $1.95 gallon about one month back, should be cheaper now.

I paid just under $3.00 in Southern New Hampshire on 11/18. There was someone that mentioned $1.50 per gallon being advertised in Central Massachusetts, but I haven't seen posts from anyone that has goteen even close to that in the area. Propane seems like it's the biggest scam fuel going. Propane makes oil look honest!

...Except that site ignores the western US...

I guess we don't need heat here....?

$2.76 + fees and tax 190 gallons $579.00 in Oct. I am hoping the stove will heat the house all winter we used 975 gallons last year. We have not had to fire the propane heater yet this year  Getting down in the 20's now next month will be the test.
