Told you guys I'd post when I got through the first ton, I'm 4 bags into another ton and continue to be impressed with how these things are burning now. Fines are almost non existent in the bags. There's been a bunch of clinker but the ash qty is definitely down. We're cleaning every 3 days, roughly 6 bags.

Stove is too hot to touch the top when the unit is set on 5. Thing cranks. House is hot upstairs at night and comfortable 67 in the morning with the stove on 4 all night.

Which stove? And how many sq feet?

st croix york insert 2300 sq ft colonial.

Thanks! Trying to gauge my usage against others, went up a little bit the last few days. I was using just under a bag a day in Nov, looks like more than a bag now. I might need to go pellet hunting towards the end of the season a half ton or so ;-)

This is all good to hear. I think like most others, I shop any brand I can find to figure out my back-up plan if needed. I just picked up a bag of these yesterday at Lowes in Plainville, MA to see what it was like. With all the bad news about them last year, I was a little hesitant, but figured for completeness, I should try them.

Thanks for the info.

I gave them a try recently too. I have no previous experience from last year to compare with, but I would still rate them below average (imho). I had some fairly large hard clinkers and the amount of ash in the pan was on the high side of average and heat was only average. Plus, the firebox was pretty dirty. In my mind, Stove Chow were better for similar money. I'm just sayin' .............

Wow, cleaning every 6 bags? That must be getting old quick. I can go 15 or more bags between cleanings...big ash pan i guess.

I don't consider every 3 days alot. I would consider every day alot...and that's what I had last year...every day it was so thick it was stupid. 3 days is what we saw with warm fronts too.
