Anyone using Curran's and if so, what do you think? How do they compare to say Hamer's or Sommerset's?

Burnt 14 bags of them last month, low fines, average heat, LOTS of ash

X2. Pretty good heat, very few fines, tons of light fluffy ash. I found the burning charactoristics of Curran's (Blue/White Bag) very similar to Maine's Choice.

I burned the blend (white bag) and agree - thought that they were about average (heat, ash) with below average fines. I then bought the 100% softwood in the clear bag and was impressed at the higher heat output. Well above average, but not quite in the Lignetics (green) or Barefoot realm, but close.

Hello

Yes, our Lowe's has the blend of soft and hard in the white bag

I have burned 5 bags of the mixed and have had mixed results. The heat is ok and there is absolutely no buildup in my burnpot, however there is a lot of ash and they discolor the glass like crazy. I had to clean my stove after 4 days and I can usually easily go a week, and I had to use a magic eraser to clean my glas and I have never had to do that with any other brand of pellets. I have 13 bags of these left and I'll burn them with no problem, but I won't be buying any more this year. I started this year with 2 tons of Somersets, and there is no comparison. Somersets have incredible heat and almost no ash. I have 2/3's of a ton left and I will use them on the coldest days and try to keep some for next year.

returned a ton last year due to low heat and heavy ash.. Will not purchase again, but others have had good luck with them.

Just picked up three bags tonight and burning the first one. Cleaned out the stove so I can get a good idea about pot build up. Looking for a cheap shoulder pellet and they seem on par with the Maine Choice.... The Currans are all that it left at the local Lowes... should have grabbed another ton of the Maine Choice when I had the chance.

The mix was decent for heat with a lot of ash when we sold them. The clear bag softwood has been becoming the local favorite.

How much are the 100% Softwoods selling for in your area? Looks like I can get them here for around $275/ton delivered.

We sell them here for $260 per ton picked up, but I have a little higher markup than some retailers on my pellets.
