Likes: Unit is attractive as far as woodstoves go and doesn't look cheap. Unit does appear to be better constructed than many others I looked at. Bought in late 2002 but this survey only went to 2001.

Dislikes: Main problem is the unit doesn't have enough air intake. Have to leave the door cracked, safety hazard, to get a decent fire going. Should have left the adj air feature off since you have to leave it full open all the time to get enough air to make a good fire. Forget about mixing green and cured goes to nothing and doesn't recover. In fact even with cured wood I usually have to clean the glass off every couple of fires because the inadequate airwash system doesn't allow hot air to come across the glass at the correct temp to burn off the brown deposits. Air tubes fall down occasionally. Even though it sports their largest firebox available still seems pitifully small. They estimate a fire will burn between 4-10 hours its more like 2-3 hours. Would not buy another Regency. Have had sparks come out around the door gasket with the door closed and land on the floor below. Doesn't even come close to heating the 2500-3000 sq ft it says it is capable of. There is nothing wrong with my draft had plenty on the last stove I had. Won't take large logs they just simmer and cause creosote due to the lower temp.

Comments: Was spoiled by my last stove an Elk Pine Stove which had twice the fire box and would heat the whole house easily. Would try a Quadraheat if I bought one again which has a larger fire box than the Regency. Has a larger firebox even though Regency salesperson said this one was so efficient it didn't matter. Was skeptical but should have listened to my common sense and experience instead of a salesman. Hope my experience helps others.
