Unit is used to supplement our forced air furnace during the weekends. We leave the furnace at 40 Degrees F to keep the pipes from freezing. On the weekends, we start a fire on Friday and keep it going through the entire weekend without the need to have the furnace turn on. Doing this burned less that a face cord ($40 US) of wood from October to March.
Air intake works great. Can turn the fire down within 30 seconds and then back on.
Little creosote buildup on a double 45 Degree elbow.
Little ash buildup. Only need to clean ash less than once per weekend. Also has a very large ash pan.
After burner system works really nice to burn the extra gasses.
1 burn cycle is around 8 hours from iginition to coals
Drolet and Northern both helped with replacement of the broken bricks during shipping.
Bricks were broken during shipping. Should have been individually wrapped prior to shipping.
Recommend this unit. Cost is nearly a quarter of the price of other units with the same features.
