Comments: I purchased this unit to replace an old Preway fireplace. After researching fireplaces for about 6 months I decided to purchase the Northstar. I went to the Hearth & Home store in Menomonee Falls, WI to place my order. When I presented my quote to the girl she infomed me that the price was now going to be 15% higher because the burn season had started and my price was a summer price. After I complained to the manager of that store they did agree to the original pricing. I placed the order with a promise of a 2 week delivery and a delivery date wihtin a few days of order. After I checked back a few times to get the delivery date that they promised me I was chewed out by Nicole and told that I did not need to be checking for a date because they had my phone number and she knew what she was doing. I reminded her that they were the ones that were late and could not tell me anything. I made up my mind that I would not deal with Nicole anymore. I called the general manager at their new store in Waukesha, WI and he found a unit that same day. When i went to pick it up I discovered that they forgot to order one of the heat zone kits. They told me it might take another 2 or 3 weeks to get another. Again the sqweeky wheel got the grease. I complained, had my heat zone in a few days. I installed the whole unit myself. The install went good except for the heat zone instructions. The instructions said to cut a 7 5/8" x 13 5/8" hole in the drywall for the register. After I cut the hole and finished the install I went to install the grill cover but the cover was smaller than the hole by a 1/4" per side. I called the factory and got a promise to check in to it and call me back. I am still waiting for the call 2 weeks later.
The unit works great and heats our 2200 sq ft 2 story home easily. the heat zones work just as planned except for the somewhat noisy fans.
