Lots of heat. Auto ignites corn without fail. Autoclean feature means no attention to stove for a few days outside of refilling hopper, dumping ash pan. Great looking stove. Appears well built.
Corn and pellet programs need some tweaking.
Been using the new Vernon AE stove nonstop for almost 2 weeks now. Dealer installed. Dealer did not seal all seams on vent pipe and had a heavy burnt corn smell throughout the house the first day. Sealed these myself and odor is gone. Runs off a thermostat that has programs for corn, 2 pellet types; low and high ash, sunflower seeds and wheat. The wood settings both make the flame height too high, the corn setting needs tweaking as the feed rate sometimes was too slow for the heat being programmed. You can adjust the flame height/feed rate manually from the thermostat which corrected both of these but it takes some time to get it just right. Once set I have had no problems and Quadrafire says another corn setting will be added through dealers soon. Fans on the stove are pretty quiet, mine is in the basement but in a tv room I could see it getting too loud. The autoclean feature is very nice, dumps the burnpot once the room reaches temp or at set times depending on the fuel you are burning.Refilling the hopper, dumping the ash pan and some vacuuming of the stove is all that I am needing to do at this point. It does have a 12v switch function for backup power. The thermostat monitors the battery and auto switches to it in an event of power loss. You have to buy the power cord from the dealer as it is their design but I did not purchase this as I live in the city and have never had any power loss problems to my knowledge. Stove appears very solid and well built, weighs in around 425 lbs! I looked at some Harmons and a few other brands at the time and felt like this was the best product for my situation. Happy to be burning 100% corn!
