Likes: Firebox is deep. Large view through glass. Glass does not soot up too quickly. Very easy to start and maintain fire. Effective draft control, easy to operate. Can do long burns but haven't done all night burns yet.

Dislikes: Firebox is not too tall. No ash box.

Comments: I used a lot in doing research and now it is time to pay back. After realizing an insert would not fit, replaced a zero clearance corner fireplace with a black Country Stove SS210 Performer free standing stove with brushed nickel door and legs. See countryss210performer in gallery. The hearth consists of 2x4 framing/plywood/Durarock/flagstone, with non-shielded drywall in the back corner. The stove fires up quickly and burns long when throttled down. Large, single pane glass becomes dirty over time but not excessively, and cleans up easily with Speedy White. Door hinges and operating lever are sturdy. The fire is easy to start and responds quickly to the draft control. I will usually do initial light off with door open until a decent fire is burning, and then continue to warm up to operating temps with the door closed and draft adjusted. The room gets very warm if allowed and I will probably install a ceiling fan to move air around the house. I had a big issue getting the permit office to understand their process regarding "ICBO numbers", accredited testing labs, etc. Eventually they learned - Country Stoves are tested by OMNI-Test Labs in OR, which is accredited by IAS and accepted by ICC-ES in LA County. Excellent service from the dealer and installer.
