We have been living with wood stoves for more than forty years first in Maine, New Brunswick, and now outside of Philadelphia.
The 1710 is a heavy weight wood stove that is made of cast iron. It has a unique ventilation system with adjustable venting below the fire grate and a series of perforated pipe running across the top. Because of the two level ventilation system the unit is clean burning. Most important, once started, combustion occurs from both the bottom and top of the firebox creating a great fire to watch.
Because the firebox is so tight it takes some time to heat the stove and chimney sufficiently to create a draft. In short it takes a little longer to get a fire going and once the outside temperature is above 50 degrees F we have trouble getting a fire going at all. But this is a minor incontinence for such a great stove.
The Morso 7110 ranks at the top of our list and would not hesitate in purchasing another unit if we ever move.
